Malty aroma - chocolate and biscuit - with dried fruits. Flavor has an even balance. Dry, slightly astringent (grapeskins) finish, mild warming.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

Pours a translucent tan-copper with many small bubbles. Biscuit and bread in the nose. Honey, butterscotch, caramel and cinnamon in the flavor. The butterscotch is what makes this so good. Sparkling and crisp palate. Easy drinking and a fabulous taste.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2004 Very spicey but had a bit of a rotted wood taste. I really did not like this beer and could not drink it again.Too musty for its own good.

Had during a beer tasting party. Poured reddish brown and tastes of sweet broth.
Not really the most enjoyable to me.

From a corked 750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy light brown haze, with a foamy white head. Aroma was not there so much. Picked up some toasted bread and alcohol. Taste was slightly better with some sweetness coming thru. Not much flavor on this beer. Would not purchase again.

Bier de garde del nord della Francia al naso molto fruttata e floreale, poco corposa. Fruttata con un retrogusto amaro leggero.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This offering pours a dark maroon leaving a thin tan head that leaves very quickly. The aroma is bready, tart unripened fruit, strawberries, cherries, sour dough bread, and a musty dank aroma. The taste is tart upfront, sour cherries, strawberries, lemon, leaving a syrupy mouthfeel that coats the palate. The hops are brisk but not astringent, malty fruitness really finishes this beer off but is balanced by a tart fruitness that really makes this beer great. Overall this is a nice beer, I haven’t had it in a few years but glad I went back to it for this Christmas.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A starkly white and full head is the harbinger of what’s to come for this beer. A nose full of sours and the color of royal walnut this beer floats on the taste bud, airy, tangy, a hint of brown sugar and cinnamon. Finishes with a subtle peanut shell bite. A delightfully crated beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The head was spare and diminishing. This beer was very carbonated and had a sweet taste to it.
