Une blonde à 5,9 % abv, cela paraît très simple à la critique, et d’ailleurs cela n’a pas manqué sur Ratebeer où la bière s’est faite descendre (à la cote)... Et pourtant, cette bière a de remarquables qualités, certes en proportion à sa catégorie de blonde « simple » mais réelle... Pour preuve cette bière a reçu un second prix grand public au mondial de Strasbourg en 2010, et c’est bien ce qu’elle est : grand public. Ce terme n’a jamais rien enlevé aux mérites d’une bière pour autant qu’elle soit de haute fermentation, ce qui est le cas ; Je n’aurais personnellement aucun scrupule à coter au ras des pâquerettes une lager (comme le mot est bien choisi, une « basse »....). Mais ici, un peu de respect et de soin s’impose dans la critique. Certes, nous ne sommes pas devant une trappiste, mais la brasserie d’Ebly n’a jamais prétendu cela non plus... Couleur jaune pâle (un peu trop, certes). Clarté nette. Bulles assez grosses (un peu trop, certes). Mousse blanche à gros flocons (un peu trop, certes). Mais les réserves s’arrêtent là. Arômes très agréables de houblon, citron, pain frais, blé humide. Texture de grande douceur. 1ère bouche d’un très bon houblon, net, précis, franc, et une arrière-bouche de fruits blancs. 2ème bouche sur le blé mûr avec un peu de girofle. 3ème bouche où le froment transparaît (parce qu’il y a 2 malts, oui), clair et agréable. Longueur sympathique, régulière, douce. Levure de belle tenue, soyeuse, souple. Alcool très correct pour une blonde, et n’oublions pas que ce genre de bière est fait aussi pour en boire jusqu’au bout de la nuit... La finale n’est certes pas complexe mais honnête et douce. Bière donc très valable et recommandable pour la consommation courante (ce n’est pas mon genre, mais cela n’empêche pas de la coter pour ses qualités). Merci Ebly.

Yellow hazy with persistent white head. Malt, yeast and fresh aroma. Light sweet with herbal and yeast flavour.

Pours blonde , almost no foam Smell is grainy , bread , sweet but ok Too much carbo Taste is grainy , sugary . A bit diffrent in a way , but meh

33cl bottle. Clear yellow with small white head. Nose : Hay and sugar bread aromas, fruity notes ; banana, peach and little cherry. Soap. Sip : low density with creamy body. Lightly sparkling carbonation. Dry, grainy start with little sweetness, develops lemon zest bitterness that lasts. Soapy feeling. Refreshing beer.

Bottle (33 cl) from Etre Gourmet. Hazy golden with medium white head. Clean malt aroma with some faint spicy and earthy notes and herbal hops. Dry with medium bitterness. Nothing spectacular, just very drinkable and refreshing.

A hazed blonde ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a sweet malt with light incense notes, curacao, OK. In mouth, a nice smooth herbal spiced belgian ale, with thyme, coriander, herbs, very smooth. Bottle at Mondial 2011, June 12 2011.

Thus far a lot of effort has gone into the glass design - a holstered horn, somewhere between the Kwak coachman’s glass and a drinking horn - and intop the imagery / story. The beer is somewhere in the wheat beer / blonde ale region and would not benefit from stylising in my view. Clean enough to suggest good technique, floury enough to taste locally made. And because it is new it will evolve.

Bottled 33cl. Murky pale golden with a huge white head. A lot of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Fresh, inviting aroma of vitamin tablets, melon and orange. Remarkably fruity, yeast accented. Medium bodied. Creamy palate. Late dry finish which makes you eager to take another sip. The yeast profile reminds me of Uniebroue’s.
