Ahh, Weiss beer; is there anything more refreshing and indicative of Summer? As promised, here is the second installment of this incredible seasonal. Far and away, the most popular specialty we have ever released here at La Cumbre, our very traditional Bavarian-style Hefeweizen is brewed with 60% malted wheat and a very unique yeast strain resulting in a rush of banana and clove in the nose, and a big, lush, milkshake-like mouthfeel. While the alcohol is moderate, watch out, you’ll go through 3 of these faster than a passing monsoon rain.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice combination of sweet wheat, light clove and a hint of banana. Flavor has much more clove with banana and sweet wheat backing.

Pours a bright but cloudy golden color with white head. Raw wheat, coriander, clove and some yeast on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with some yeast notes.

Totally unfiltered! Lots of spice flavor, without excess sweetness. Limited head as expected. Impossible to get more flavor in a 5.1% brew!

Lightly hazy, light tan colour. Very sweet nose, banana but also some bubblegum, higher alcohols. Body is a bit thin and also a bit sticky...an odd combination. Phenols are plastic first then bubblegum. Cloying finish. Sorry, Jeff, this just didn’t work at all for me.

473ml can from Elise. Hazy yellow orange body. Not much of a head. Pleasant honey banana-clove aroma. Medium bodied, well balanced. Smooth golden malt tones, big yeast notes. Some lemony clove tart bitterness up front, but fades into a sweet malty finish. A pretty solid stateside Hefe.

Tall boy can via trade. Drank out the can right after cleaning up the garage on a hot Florida day. Nose is full of banana with a citrus hint that is barely there. Taste is initially very grainy, bready with some vanilla phenols. Moderate banana and bubble gum as well. Medium carbonation. Very quenching and refreshing on a Summer day

Out of the can and on tap at the brewery tap room. Both incredibly good. Best Hefe I have personally ever have enjoyed. Poors clearer out of the can. A darker cloudy appearance from the tap. Both very smooth and refreshing as would would expect from a quality Hefe!! Enjoy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

473 mL can opened and shared with WillRunForBeer. Many thanks! To pint, it pours a hazy safety orange; no head, only bubbles on the top surface emerged. Aromas of cloves, allspice, marshmallow root, bitter orange, germinated wheat, and vanillin. Tastes the same with the addition mashed banana, red licorice candies, candle wax, and German yeast. Spicily alluring. Fun beer.

16oz can from trade. Pours orange gold with a offwhite head that dissipates quickly. Strong aroma of unripe banana, clove. Flavor follows nose, a bit mineral and a touch of orange in the finish. A solid hefe.

American hefe. Why can't we do it like ze Germans? Bubblegum on the nose, grassy gold and cloudy, light mouthfeel and a pleasant flavor, but there's just missing something. Franziskaner is king for me. It manages to be light yet full. This one just kind if lists it's way to a unmemorable finish. Slice a lemon and put me on a porch on a hot summer's day with a growler of this and you'll get no complaints from this guy, but you won't find me ordering this at a bar...ever. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
