COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A two-step decoction mash, three varieties of the finest German malts, 2 noble hops and our house lager yeast combine to make the old-style of dark lager that was so popular in Bavaria up until the turn of the last century. The toasted malts really take center stage in this brown beer, with the hops simply there for balance. Medium-bodied, this beer is both substantial and approachable and is about as close as I have come in recreating this classic lager style. Prost!

Draft @ taproom. Red-copper, looks pretty good. Slight diacetyl on top of lots of caramel, and also has some doughy dark bread malts. Nice palate and has a drinkable body. The flavors are better with more refined bread character coming out. Dark doughy malts with enough tastiness in the finish to dry it out. There are many Bavarian dunkels that taste just like this.

Golden brown. Not much head on this pour. Aroma is a little toasty. Palate is toasty, maybe a touch of phenols. Finishes a bit toasty, a bit dry.
