Cask (gravity dispense) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Near black in colour. Thin brown head. Rich and dark with lots of creamy chocolate. Vanilla is noticeable but quite subtly handled, so it doesn’t dominate, which I can find a problem with vanilla. Smooth mouthfeel with a little sweetness. Straightforward but tasty and very drinkable.

GBBF. Cask. Opaque black beer, small cream - tan head. Mild roast on the nose. Smooth semi dry palate. Rich dark malt but not heavy or bitter. A little burned edge to it but offset by well judged creamy vanilla. Nice beer. Lose the harsh roast and it could be great!
