Really loved this beer. I’d been on a steady died of dull French blonde beers, but this thing just had so much more depth to it. The dark copper color is the first clue, then the Abbaye/Leffe-like clovey yeast note, then a smooth sweetness of well-hidden alcohol, with a crisp finish. Great value and sold in most French supermarkets too.

33 cl bottle. Poors a brownish orange with a small beige head disappearing fast. Aroma:malts, caramel. Taste: caramel, fruits, malts, very slight sourness in the end. Decent beer, alcohol at 8.5% but feels lighter than expected.

Great bottle. Love the re-sealable pop tops. Really appealing pour. Very orange with tons of hits clingy head. Odd scent I can’t quite place. Some type of cleaning product. Some hops there as well. Yeasty. A touch sour and sweet. High carbonation, almost fizzy. Not sure how I feel about this one. I think it’s a bad mix after the porter I just had. No real boozy taste despite the abv.

Head was white but dropped out completely pretty fast. T: touch of spice, touch of earthyness, lite hop tang pretty dry with a mineraly finish, some oxidized sweetnes. . P: light, watery, little bit of tang and spice. Little carbonation. O: alright for a bier de garde from France. I?ve had better in the states. Easy to drink but lacking in flavor

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle. The aroma is softly spicy and earthy. A dank sort of damp aroma along with a soft malt sweetness and a fairly herbal hoppiness. Earthy and woody with a little bit of light caramel. The malt profile is quite distinctive here - a mixture of dry caramel, toasted grain and some earthiness. There is a touch of coriander/clove here, but it is very, very subtle. A touch of cooked fruit but it’s also subtle. This is pretty nice actually - not a typical BdeG - but it has many of the characteristic elements.
