3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
First time with this style, bottle from the LCBO. A nice, refreshing beer, again, can’t really compare this with others of the style. Pours copper with a nice, off-white head. The beer goes down easy; the 8% abv is not really noticeable. Caramelized malt flavour with some grass and bread flavour--all of it is pretty light. A nice note of hops in the finish, which is slightly bitter. Overall a nice beer that I would seek out again.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear copper pour, medium white head. Lovely grassy, fresh hay, cereals aroma. Finish is spicy, and fruity. Light tropical fruit, more grassy hops, medium bitter finish. Very refreshing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma of caramelized malt. Pours dark amber with ok head and lacing. Medium bubbly carbonation. Finishes slightly bitter, a little oaky astringency and sweet. Some light burnt taste here. Bottle.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle from the lcbo. Pours deep golden with a white head. Big pale malty nose, honeyed cereals, some yeasty fermentation character, really quite lovely. The flavour follows suit but adds a touch of alcohol warmth, especially as it warms. Really elegant beer.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a clear amber with a decent amount of fine white head that dissipates somewhat slowly. Smell is typical of a biere de garde, some sweet caramel, a bit of fruit, some bread, and something a tiny bit funky, kind of like a cellar. Palate is medium bodied with slightly below average carbonation. Taste is a bit strange, slightly sweet at first but then gets a nice bitter hop, followed by a bit of sweetness again, then the weird comes out and you get some funky sour bitterness that doesn’t really go away. Not a big fan of this one.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750mL bottle, lickbho. There just isn’t enough Biere de Garde in my life. Pours a clear gold with a large, fluffy white head. The aroma is great, biscuity cereal grains with a load of peppery hops and a really nice sharp floral character with a hint of citrus. Flavour has a lot of sweetness, grainy biscuit, black pepper zing in the finish from the hops, as well as an earthy undertone. Hardly a trace of any booze, and the yeasty esters develop as I drink more of this. There’s something about this style that just really works for me. Douai is also right around the corner from Arras, one of my favourite places on the globe. I plan on getting more of this awesome brew.

Bottle courtesy of Dean. Aroma is slightly skunked and light caramel. Flavor is light sweet and alcoholic, light caramel and a but cloying mouthfeel. Short and sweet finish. Decent, above average.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Yummy! Tastes of malt and toffee with an abrupt, dry finish. Tiny oil slick head on golden/amber body. Aroma has same notes as taste, but lighter. Taste come on full strength at first sip. This is really lovely.

Very smooth and drinkable beer. Alcohol is not too pronounced. Overall well round.
