(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a clear, fully golden with a creamy, off-white head. aroma of yeast and alcohol. Fairly full body, sweetish malty with notes of fruit and honey. And then the added wheat provides a base for banana esters - actually this has almost a Weizen Bock character to it. Distinct yeasty flavour while the strong alcohol is well hidden. 070706

Bottled, from Alko. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruits, earth, mild metal as well as some slight malts. Flavour is fruits, yeast, some spices and also quite earthy notes. Mild alcohol in the finish. As it gets warmer it gets melted rubber in the aroma, as well as the mild metallicness gets quite much stronger. Flavour stays quite the same when warming up.

Bottle from Leclérc supermarket in Gex (Ain)
Deep blond color, ordinary head. There is some smell of malt, warm plastic, vegetables. Correct body; some malt flavor, sweetish, with fruity and vegetables traces; correct bitterness. Obviously not a Bière de Garde, just a simple and slightly flawed Strong Belgian Ale.

75cl bottle from Carrefour, Calais. Now I knowthat beer shouldn’t be drunk with the eye, but I do like a swing top lid to a big 75 of biere de garde. Gold beer with lasting thick white head. Yeasty, citric, hoppy beer with some gorgeous flavours in the mouth. Deep flavours. Bit of smoke even. Fruits are grapefruit and tangerine. There is some goldensyrup too, to the malts. Lovely hop on the end. Biting and sharp. Citrus too. Superb biere de garde. One of my favourites.

Bottle, 8.5%. Sweetish caramelly aroma. Clear dark golden colour. Very small white head. Mildly sweet flavour. Rough, but nice hop flavour. OK aroma hop notes as well.

Bottled. BB 02/2010. Clear deep golden color, small white head. Strong aroma of leather in the nose with some hops and fruity tinge. Very carbonated, lively mouthfeel. Flavor has spices (black pepper), tropical fruits and leather. Finish is quite alcoholic. Aftertaste has some bitter hops together with alcoholic warming feeling. A bit thin. Quite simple, but someway drinkable. This is not really a biere de garde, but closer to strong Belgian ales.
