4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 dirkbreedveld (286) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 10, 2004
the best beer i tasted at St. Niklaas 2004.
This helles weizenbeer is made it's name more than true.
Although it's cloudy beer the pale yellow color is brighter than normal in weizenbeers.
The taste is malty, some sweetness occurs, but the beer stayed dry al the way, and had some lovely fruityness in the after palate. The best of germany tried to mix with the best of belgian white beers? If that is what they tried they succeeded. Unfortunately this will probably only available, on beertastings/festivals and in the restaurant. But that beer alone will be worth a detour.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2004
Tap, ZBF2004. Cloudy gold, good fluffy white head and moderate fine condition. Initial aroma of sulphur soon subsiding, leaving wheaty banana notes, some esters and a hint of butterscotch towards the end. Soft in the mouth with lemon citrus and esters developing. Slightly sweet and phenolic with a hint of chalk in the finish. Starts like a weizen, becomes wit-like then just does what the hell it wants in the finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 29, 2007
(Hand-bottled, 5.0% ABV) Opaque yellow with a medium, foamy and white head. Mild, banana-fruity aroma with some toffee. Wheaty, mildly lemony, sweetish flavor with toffee hints. A pleasant and balanced hefeweizen.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fonefan (25148) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JAN 6, 2012
Draught @ BQ - Birra artigianale di Qualità , Via Losanna 36, 20100 Milano, Italy.
Unclear - hazy matt light yellow orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate yeasty, bubble gum - mint, spicy, citrus, soap notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and light light acidic with a average duration, soap bitter, spicy, coriander notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. IMO more a belgium wit than a german hefe ;O) [20111109]

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - DEC 18, 2005
Light aroma, pale straw color, frothy white head. Grainy fresh cracked grains, vanilla hints, dainty spiced end. Thin body, quick profile, light and refreshing. Average beer, but nothing to write home about.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 YogiBeera (2436) - Hamburg, GERMANY - OCT 24, 2005
On tap at the brewpub in Gouvy: Definetly not the style!!!! Straw yellow color, small layer of a head which leaves legs on the glass. Grainy nose and taste - actually I do not see any difference to the Pilsette I just tasted.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 JorisPPattyn (6747) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 6, 2004
(Draught) Fully pale yellow, slightly yellow-tinted head. Slight hops, very yeasty and slightly grassy. Taste is sweet, with vanilla, yeasty - way too much yeast. The mouthfeel is all creamy. Aftertaste is just one jumble of esters and intermediate products of yeast in full ferment. Overall is simple: this was beer to be sold 6 weeks later. Hyper-green, fermenting worts.
