(Bottled, BBE 9.10.2014, 9.7% ABV) Hazy dark golden with a smallish, but firm and lacy head. Syrupy-sweet, warming nose with grainy-caramely notes. Flavor is grainy-toffeeish with slight lime-fruity notes. Surprisingly dry flavor considering the aroma, yet without showing the alcohol. Quite full body, soft and creamy mouthfeel. Creamy-smooth tripel with hidden alcohol. Too bad this already feels too aged (totally lacks any freshness) when 1+ months to BBE. 4237

Foffern (1230) - Bodø, NORWAY - JUN 29, 2014
Bottle at home. 1 year old. Has a slightly cloudy, dark straw colour with a medium, off-white head. Pretty carbonated. Sweet aroma with citrus, Belgian yeast, pale malt and pears. The flavour has more pale malt, Belgian yeast, warming alcohol and some spices. Slick mouth feel, and has a light bitterness. A sweet and balanced tripel.

Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Hazy, light amber colour. Inch-thick white head, fairly good retention, leaves a thick film and a band of bat-shaped lacing. Complex aroma of fermented fruit, yeast, burnt plastic (phenolic), melted butter, caramel, vegetables, tangerines. Medium body, soft carbonation. Semi-sweet ’deep’ fruity taste with some dust/cellar associations, mild bitterness, pleasant acidity. Fruity-bitter aftertaste.

Stubby bottle, 330 ml, at home, into a big tulip glass. ABV 9.7% Deep orange golden colour on the body, just a tad hazy, with good activity in it and a big white head on top. Good retention light lacing. Aroma of peaches, sugar, apricot. Taste is sweet, with malts and sugars, fruity with stone fruits, notable alcohol, a bit of yeast. Medium body, high carbonation. Nothing extraordinary but very good nevertheless, good sipper.
