4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This Wallon beer is light, sweet and bitter all at the same time but for the brown ale that is a lot of punch in one sip. Great all around beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle, poured into Kasteel chalice. A: Dark brown mahogany, thick looking, initial small tanned head disappeared quickly, kept some lacing. S: Chocolate mouse, earthy. T: Chocolate mouse, fudge, earthy, candy sugar, raspberry, kept the booze hidden until the very end. M: Smooth, fairly heavy texture, carbonation didn’t dominate. O: Tasted suspiciously like Waterloo 8 and other dark ales from Du Bocq. Pretty solid but nothing that will stick in the memory.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Beautifull dark brown colour with red hues, quite bitter and quite sweet that do not blend well together. Not too good.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark ruby brown, creamy layer of foam. Caramel, syrup, plums. Light bitterness, some sourness. Semi-full palate, rather fizzy. One of those tasty and smooth Belgians that are not that interesting but always very pleasant to drink.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Bottle, 0.75 l - BB 27.12.14, from Alko, 20140228) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had malts, caramel and berries. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were caramel, malts, Belgian style yeast, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, malty and bitter. A below-average dubbel. Too sweet.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Stubby bottle of 330 ml, poured into a tulip glass at home, ABV at 8.1%
The beer has a very deep red brown colour on the body, with nice ruby shades when hold against the light, intense activity in it, and a tall thick head sitting on top, beige in colour and with good retention. Light lacing left on the glass after it has collapsed.
Aroma of toasted malts, vinous notes, red and dark fruits, especially plums.
Nice taste, sweet in general, very fruity, with strawberry jam and plums, wine notes, the alcohol more than notable.
Medium thick body, good carbonation with a bite.
Overall a very good beer, the best from the Gauloise brand I had so far.
