austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland Oct 27, 2009 75cl. Dark chestnut, strongly foaming lasting beige head. Sweetish candi sugary aroma, little orange pralines, sweet carrot and nutmeg. Flavor is similar, just stronger, some alcohol, candi sugar, hint of liquorice, mild herbal bitterness. Medium bodied, strong soft carbonation. Sugar feels in the teeth, that tells enough of the brew. I hoped to find some roastiness in there, but its just dark sugar. BeerChaser0078 (284), Melbourne, Australia Oct 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear dark reddish brown with a long lasting tan head. Aroma is of malt, currants, raisins, toffee, spice and a whiff of alcohol. Flavour is also a little boozy and quite malty, overall quite similar to the aroma but stronger, especially the spiciness. Medium body, highly carbonated and with a long sweet, spicy finish. Highly enjoyable. OSLO (825), Perth, Australia Sep 20, 2009 [Bottle] Pours reddish amber with a beige head that is quite small. Aroma is huge on concord grape upon opening, then pear, kiwi, and finally caramel after warming. Taste is grape again, yeast, good malt balance, fresh cilantro, dinosaur fruit snacks, light lemon meringue pie, and restrained alcohol. Pretty good mouthfeel, smooth, medium-short length finish. Overall, a beer that I quite enjoyed. Very dessert-like and something that I could drink a lot of. Habanero (610), Tranbjerg, Denmark Sep 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan, creamy head. Fair lacing. Nose of yeast and malt.Sweet flavour with brown sugar, malt and raisins.Full bodied. More dry finish with a little bitterness too. Nice. esox (259), Oulu, Finland Sep 4, 2009 75 cl bottle. Dark brown to deep ruby beer. The head is rich, creamy, lacy, light beige in colour. The flavor is deep, powerful and delicate. Malty, slightly roasted backbone. Dark fruitiness of dried dates and raisins. The yeast has some banana and bubblegum. Light spiciness, maybe coriander. Dark belgiand candy sugar/syrup is used. Very gentle, almost nutty roastedness and rummy character in the finish with a touch of dark chocolate and alcohol. The flavor is typically Belgian: rich, deep, sweetish estery and still surprisingly light in maltiness. Very digestible. The palate is medium bodied, heavily carbonated, estery and lingering. Very enjoyable stuff. JanEric (167), Meppel, Netherlands Aug 2, 2009 On tap in Paris. Small head, ambercoloured. Full texture, slightly bitter. Nice beer. gnoff (3560), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 19, 2009 33 cl bottle thanks to Diar! On July 19, 2009 Clear dark red color, small tan head. Milky, alcohol, malty scent, some licorice. Sweet, spicy, malty taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness. aphalo (80), Turku, Finland Jul 14, 2009 Bottle 750ml. Muddy brown colour, beige head. Musty aroma with plums and sweet malts. Carbonation smoothens up some of the alcohol aroma, but it still comes up quite strongly. Taste has also some caramel, plums, dark chocolate and fruits in it. Aftertaste is boozy.
