jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Dec 21, 2008 Lots of lacing from a hazy straw beer. Aromas are light but yeasty, with an apple peel acidity. Soft palate, rich finish, and a tasty mineral component all give this beer a lot of complexity for a white ale. Well made and very good example in the style. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Nov 26, 2008 Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 750 ml caged corked bottle. Hazy light orange appearance
with a soft, silky white head that sticks around a while. Lemony aroma with some spicy accents. Flavor has a slight citrusy bent to it with some soft yeasty accents and some buttery notes. Thick, creamy moutfheel - just the right amount of spritziness. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Nov 21, 2008 Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a decent citrus with some light clove and corriander. Flavor is a bit mellow and barely there with some citrus fruit coming out but nothing like i though it should be. Finish get a little weak and watery. Nothing really good about this one and its very overpriced. legion242 (1572), Richardson, Texas, USA Nov 19, 2008 My first exeperience with a "double" or "imperial" wit and I have to say I likey very much. Very full-bodied and smooth hiding the higher ABV very nicely. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Oct 23, 2008 Cloudy tan, golden with particles. Aroma of apple juice, very simple. Makes me remember being a kid with a sippy cup filled with apple juice. As it warms, pear compote and rum aromas. Decent level of carbonation, not too fizzy and pretty soft. It’s thin, fruity, and its main dimension is sweet. Disappointing. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 19, 2008 Draft at Brick Store in Atlanta. Pleasant enough but not the grand slam of the recent De Proef Signature series, or, indeed, of any of the other DePs I have enjoyed in the past. Hazy straw, good white head that leaves good lacing. Citrus nose. Taste of lemon and pepper, but without great intensity. Good summer beer. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 6, 2008 Hazy "dirty" dark golden liquid with a smaller off-white head. Nearly sickeningly sweet scents of raisins, candi, and rotting pears. There is a little more depth in the aroma, but I don’t care to look for it anymore. Sweet flavors all over the place in the flavor as well. Start has some melon and citrus. Quite bitter in the finish and really dry and bitter with an iron twist in the linger. I’m only a few ounces in and this is close to being one of less than a dozen actual drain pours. I make one more pour and will try and slog my way through this. Actually the it seems to "mellow" a tough as it warms. Still syrupy sweet, but some of the volatiles seem to be driven away. This is, at best, a poor strong golden, and certainly no Grand Wit. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2008 Pleasant enough. Not as hazy looking as a lot of witbiers. Big white head. Honey banana and spice in the aroma. The flavor is sweet and fruity with just a hint of citrus at the finish. Sweeter than most any witbier you’ll find.
