Ernest (4197), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 27, 2008 Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, husks/cereal), lightly to moderately yeasty (mold, basement), with notes of buttered popcorn (diacetyl?), pear syrup, cotton candy, squash.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Pretty awful stuff. No aromatic resemblance to a witbier, some nasty odors in there instead. A syrupy-sweet, clumsy mess of a beer.
jjpm74 (2878), Connecticut, USA Aug 16, 2008 Pours a hazy amber with a rocky white head. Smells of ginger, coriander, wheat. Tastes of citrus, coriander, dough. Meh. hophead75 (1648), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Aug 5, 2008 750 split two ways. Hazy golden in color with a big off white head that retains well. Aroma of spices- coriander and citrus, light banana, honey sweetness, bready yeast. Taste is citrus and spices, initially sweet with honey, light banana, finishes dry. decent, I think I like the Southampton more though. Headbanger (958), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jul 10, 2008 750ml bottle-Has an orangish appearance unlike most other Wits and has a head of ice cream and soda mixed. Aroma of banana, wheat, and yeast. Taste of coriander, banana, wheat, yeast, and a little citrus. This light bodied brew has a dry sweet finish. Not what I was expecting from an Imperial White but still very tasty. dwyerpg (2032), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jun 28, 2008 A nice spicy aroma, a little surprising in that there isn’t much wheatiness in the aroma. Flavor is definitely wheaty up front but with a fair amount of dryness. Interesting, okay. dalepryor (148), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Jun 19, 2008 hazy yellow orange pour with huge fluffy white head, the aroma is very yeasty with a hint of orange citrus and lemon, tasty brew and very refreshing
