jm1907 (18), P=Town, California, USA Jul 12, 2007 This was an amazing beer. It was a perfect golden cloud in my glass. I saw cherubs and minotaurs playing poker with leperchauns as I watched the head slowly die. It tasted like something Zeus would drink three bottles of right before throwing a spear at the Oracle of Delphi. Drink this if you can find it. beastiefan2k (1592), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Apr 12, 2008 Thanks to André *MacGruber.* This beer has a beautiful yellow-golden color. Can only see shadows through it, while the beer just radiates and glows. The small head leads to a decent lacing. Aroma first starts with a sweat wheat candy but then there is this completely awesome aspect on the back end of the aroma. Its a short punch at the end of a peppery/floral perfume, its amazingly original and awesome. Taste is basically a similar sweet candy and a watery version of the peppery/floral perfume. All very nice, very easy to drink and the sweetness is not heavy at all. Basically. its esters gone wild in this Imperial Wit. 750mL bottle, plastic cork, Rodenbach GC smaller tulip glass. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA May 18, 2007 Bottle and Draught @ Brouwer’s Café: Straw in color, very hazy, quite thick actually, large finely bubbled head, foamy, great retention, attractive lacing. A little darker in color than expected, but this is an Imperial Witbier right?! Soft spices on the nose, somewhat muted. Appears to also be somewhat wheaty. While the nose is somewhat muted in regards to spices, its quite spicy on the tongue. Not a lot going on, but what is there is quite robust and lasts from start to finish. I am unclear if its just orange peel or corriander, but it is quite strong. Remains fairly wheaty, well rounded on the tongue. Fairly thick mouthfeel. A true Imperial Witbier!? Very clean finish, spices linger, but what I notice most is the heavy wheatiness. I was told it was 33% Wheat Malt, but it certainly feels thicker than that. Very clean finish, albiet perhaps not a spiced as much as I would like. However, this one works for me. What it does have it showcases very well. Not sure I would add much to this. Its a pleasure to drink, and I am sad to see that I have just finished my bottle. Cheers Alan! You have a great "White One" that I think will do quite well. The 7.5% ABV is very well hidden... drinks like a standard Witbier but packs a wallop!
SSSteve (2049), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 26, 2008 hazy gold pour with an enormous puffy white head. yeasty, grainy aroma with coriander, lemon. flavor is very soft with vanilla, a pleasantly sweet graininess, coriander and a twist of lemon/orange. medium carbonation. very nice. Come on Frisbee, time for dinner!" my wife will shout... good times ahead ... nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Feb 3, 2009 750ml corked bottle. Murky orange-tan color. Picked up at State Line Liquors in MD, no way to tell how long it’s been sitting on the shelf. The carbonation seems a little low, but the smooth creaminess really works for this one. Whereas a lot of other Double Whites have a rather detectable upped alcohol presence, this one is perfectly incorporated/covered. Mild aroma as well. Sweet, light on the palate, and creamy. Bare minimal hopping. Very sessionable and delicious. Doesn’t exactly blow me away like some Belgians, but it is really quality and recommended for fans of Wits, and Belgian Pale Ales. Gets better the towards the end with the yeast poured in. legion242 (1572), Richardson, Texas, USA Nov 19, 2008 My first exeperience with a "double" or "imperial" wit and I have to say I likey very much. Very full-bodied and smooth hiding the higher ABV very nicely. bhensonb (4189), Woodland, California, USA Aug 10, 2007 This has the aroma of a Bavarian hefeweizen. Brilliant sparkling gold color with a white head that did not last. Full bodied. Creamy carbonation. Clove. Light Banane. Maybe some pepper. Or not. Very smooth. It finishes less than dry. Think about this. The banana is very subdued. Try to find it. It finishes sweeter than a hefe. Still. Think about it. This could be one of the best beers. A Wit? Probably not. Maybe it is unique.
