COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Gueule de Bois beers are brewed on the premises of Au Maître Brasseur by Maxime Desmeules whose family owns the Saguenay company

pours dark brown with a decent beige head, some retention. lactic, as in acid, as in this beer has a defect. still, decent coffee notes coming through, sweetness, fruitiness. light body - weak, almost aggressive carbonation, no finish.

500 ml bottle. Pours black with a resilient beige head. Smells of coffee. Weak taste - mostly coffee...somewhat dry. Some coffee bitterness. Body is watery. Very drab and lacking in complexity.

Probably the worst stout I ever tasted. Way too thin; had a watery feel. Not desirable for a Milk stout. Poor to absent foam. No head retention. Strong cherry aroma and metallic taste. We were several to share this bottle but none of us could finish it. It went down the drain. I think that it could have been infected, however, I am not sure I will buy another one to check.

A pretty mediocre stout. Some roasty malt and chocolate flavour but in the end it has too little body and too much water and medicine taste. Passable but I wouldn’t buy it again.

pours black, oversized head. Aroma is generic cream, some chocolate, licorice, citrus (what?) Take is... Well, blend dry plums in english cream, add really mild herbal hops, and you have la Racine. Adds in some overcarbonation, and you possibly have the worst beer ever brewed in Quebec.

This is quite likely the crappiest stout I’ve ever come across - very little head, boring dark water body, little taste, just bad bad bad all around.

Ça fait vraiment la job. M’a fait découvrir les Milk stout... Si je devais mettre une note sur l’étiquette... ca baisserait la moyenne pas mal!!!!

Bottle at Peluso. Pours a black body with a huge fizzy coffee esk head. Big cherry note, infected, acidic, paper notes. Awful. Down the drain.

Pours a opaque black with a thinning white head. Aroma is lactic, roasted malt and boozy. Taste is medium body, slightly fizzy, mostly milky roasted malts. Somewhat sweet and a tad off putting.

Bouteille 500 ml. 5.5%. Couleur brun très foncé, presque noir. Arômes de chocolat, café. Goût de malt brûlé, chocolat, houblon qui amène une légère amertume. Finale sans histoire, pas très agréable. Arrière goût un peu bizarre. Correct mais pas top.
