4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
The people who have floating yest in their bottles obviously had badly handled bottles and shouldn’t rate them. I had this beer on cask in the brewery in Melle.
A gigantic 2.5 finger head gives way to gorgeous Belgian lace that clings to the glass. The nose is of ripe pears, pepper, damp earth, and a subtle hint of mangos.
The taste is spot on belgian strong. The spicy phenolic blast is unbelievalbly smooth, the ester profile excellent. There is a cleanly balanced bitterness that drops away quickly with a low-medium hop aroma gives way to a clean finish. It is not too sweet, not cloying at all...this is an excellent beer, better than DT and on par with Duvel Triple Hop, De Graal, and Augstijn grand cru.

Clear yellow orange with a white head. Aroma of peaches and strawberries. Smooth sweet finish and a taste to match the aroma without being too fruity.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep golden blonde, heavy Huyghe ale with off-white head, relatively stable seen its strength. Fruity, citrussy aroma, caramel malts, sweetish taste, quite light body for such a heavy beer, yeasty spiciness, grassy hop bitter finish with warming alcohol. Actually not bad and one of the better Huyghe beers.
