Commercial Description:
Imperial Red Ale. Brewed with Gambrinus Pale,Chrystal, and Chococlate Malts, 5 Hop varieties, and Cal Ale Yeast. This is a big,hoppy double red ale with flavors of toffee, caramel, and citrus. Dry hopped with Amarillo, Cascade, and Simcoe hops for a huge hop nose and distinct bitter finish.

Tap at the Brewhouse. Pours a hazy copper with a thin off white / beige ring, nice lacing. Nose of faint piny hops, toasted malts. Nice flavors of deep roasted malts. Finishes with assertive hop bitterness then turns quite dry.

Tap at Strong Ale 09. Pours orange with a tan head. Nose is sweet and hoppy. Taste is sweet and hoppy and cloying.

On tap at the SD Strong Ale Fest 09. Pours a dark red, off-white head. Hops, foral notes, pine, and roasted malt. It’s fine, but doesnt stand out among the crowd.

On tap at the 2009 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest, this beer is dry and hoppy, struck me as more of an IPA than an imperial red
