Very wheaty and quite light in colour. Very dry and with a somewhat bitter fruit finish. Bubblegum overtones. Too much effort to get down.

Beers of Xmas day 15. Bright straw with a slim white head. Perfumed, meaty aroma suggesting coriander, marmalade, gooseberry skins, sherbet-dabbed metal and..a hint of garlic. Honeyed and orange/pear-fruity with hints of beans and a faint burn of alcohol and yeast; grassy hop, almond. Vanilla and peanut-hinting malt in a softening finish. Average tripel/strong Belgian ale sliding down easy...just expect more personality from a Belgian Xmas beer, or any pale Belgian ale of 8.5%, really. Poor man’s Duvel/DT.

330 ml bottle.
Pours a clear golden colour with a foamy lasting head. Aroma of strong citrus, caramel and honey. Some hay notes. Flavour of citrus, strong hops, tropical fruits, peach and again hay. Warming finish with some spicy notes. Very saison-like.

Bottle @ St. Urho’s Pub. Apparance: Bottle is nice, even though google finds even nicer "bottles". Beer looks like golden applejuice with large and thick head. Aroma is fresh: alcohol, hops and fruits. Taste is alcoholic and bitter with long aftertaste. Citron, apple and hops also around. Palate is meduim bodied, lively carbonated, but too alcoholic to me.

Bottle from Beer Mania. Golden body with thin head. Nose of malts, sweet and alcohol. Taste malty and sweet. Poppy too. Not a bad little ale. Warms in the finish quite a bit.

Interestingly enough this bottle says that it is still brewed by Duwac & Co. in Mouscron, but Ratebeer says the place is out of business! A case of being cheap and using up old labels, or something else? I don’t have the time to figure it out, I’m too busy drinking! Yet, I suspected as much from the bottle, it’s one of those opaque-ceramic dealybobs that Houyghe uses for their stuff like Tremens and Guillotine. But, on the other hand, I was in Mouscron just last week and was hoping that somehow my finding this beer validated the brief time I spent in that town. So, this one pours with absolutely massive head and a boring gold body. The aroma is that of a pale lager, lots of malts and carbonation pushing the smell up into your nose. The flavour is exactly that of a strong pale lager, or a Belgian blonde, with a strong hoppy finish. This is interesting, not what I expected, and not especially a Christmas-type beer. Nonetheless it’s drinkable and enjoyable.

Bottle 33 cl. A yellow ale with huge head. Some wheat smell, yeast and grass. strange aroma, near to Duvel style, specially for the yeast. Quite dry with agrumes notes and bit acid finish. Very strange for a beer taht wants to be a Christmas ones ...

Appearance: Nice bottle! Golden orange, some fizzy white head. Unpleasant floatie bits, lots of it. Aroma: Lots of fruit, quite sweet. Taste: Sweet and fruity. A bit flat. Floatie bits ruin it for me. Info: 330ml bottle, 18/5-2010
