COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers’ family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Overall this isnt really a saison in the sense I am used too. Reminded me of a 50/50 saison and tripel blend. The strong maltiness and lingering dark fruit notes combined with the earthy yeast that wasnt as crisp for refreshing as I had hoped for. A bit too sweet and different but not too bad.

caramel, bread, dough, There I used the side flavors. Basically a triple and saisonmixed. This is attractive

Bottle from West Lakeview in Chicago. Served in a Blaugies La Moneuse tulip. Pours a nice orange-amber color with a good white head and a bit of spotty lacing on the way down. The nose brings some nice grassy and floral hops with a bit of spicy yeast and earth in the background. The flavor hits the same notes with a touch of fruit. Nice earth and light pepper. Medium body with good carbonation and a nice bitterness to the finish. Overall, pretty good, but nothing exceptional.

Stole a glass of this jawn: Pours an orange colour with a white head. Bottle was a wicked gusher, yeah. Aroma is pretty much straight saison yeast. This is a good thing in my opinion. Taste has some bitterness, especially closer to to the finish. Farmyard funk. Dry finish. Saison through and through. This is not absurdly complex, but it is flavourful and all those flavours are pulled off quite well.

Very good beer from the very good brewery de Blaugies. A little different from other saisons. Nice color, full of taste.
