COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers' family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Pours very frothy from bomber bottle but only leaves moderate lacing. Fairly hop-forward for a Saison but withdraws quickly, leaving mostly bready flavors with a sweet banana aftertaste. Fairly light. Good but not outstanding.

On tap at Eiderdown, Louisvile, KY. Aroma: Fruity, estery. Pear, slightly vinous. Apperance: dark gold pour, fine white head faded fast. Flavor: fruity (pear, apple), floral hops (hint), slight alcohol hint. Nicely bitter finish with a slight alcohol warmth. Palate: medium, slightly effervescent. OA: very tasty example of a saison. Quite refreshing and deceptively strong.

75cl bottle. Orange amber and a bit hazy. Fair white head. Nose : humid lingery like freshness with a corn notes. Caramel malt with some little cherry, peach and banana esters. Yeasty. Sip : medium creamy with a little but foamy carbonation. The beer is still alive while swallowing. The start is dry with little clove notes. End a bit bitter. Leaves a dry and hoppy aftertaste. Yeasty in taste. Alcohol is really well hidden. Good one.

Bottle at Bluebird. Pours a ruddy tannish-blonde with a fluffy white head. Very effervescent. Nose is really fantastic, lots of tart and tangy notes, soft graininess and some floral hop notes. Nice white pepper comes across as well. Earthy and Bretty-like. On tasting, it is super dry and refreshing. Subtle tartness, firm but perfect bitterness. Malt profile is pretty robust across the palate, grainy and fresh. Really nice beer once you get past the carbonation.
