Bottle. Black pour, small brownish head. Aroma of malt and licorice. Taste of roasted malt, fruity hops and a bit of salty licorice. Some red fruit as well. More hoppy than usual for an impy. Thick smooth mouthfeel. Very good.

A very good Imperial Stout indeed. Aroma is pretty fruity for the style, consisting of cherries, figs, vanilla, coffee beans and chocolate. Tastes similar to the aroma but you can feel the alcohol a little much; making it a tad harsh. Heavy body with a bitter chocolatey/mocha finish.

BOTTLE 33CL. Lots of rough roast in the aroma with notes of burnt plastic and some alcohol. The taste is relatively sweet, chocolate liquor, bitter with hints of alcohol. OK, but you expect more from a big Impy. Still good.

In short: A harsh, very sweet and highly roasted big stout. Just ok.
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed fresh soon after purchase from a Spanish store.
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention.
In long: Nose is burnt chocolate cake, vanilla beans, black coffee fumes. This beer smells heavy. Body is fuller than full but the generous carbonation (considering the beer size) helps to make this ultra-heavy beer feel somewhat drinkable. Taste is on the rough side. There is plenty of earthy burnt cereals. A high sweetness sensation dominated by a burnt dark sugars flavor. A strange flavor of black olives in the back. A shot of whisky even though I don’t think it is barrel aged. The high sweetness level is somewhat offset by a strong roastiness that creates a bitterness-like sensation. Overall this is another brutal big stout that is somewhat drinkable because it is very roasted. My wife wants me to stop drinking sweet beers because she says I’m getting fat, but I won’t stop, I’ll do what I want to do, I’m the one wearing the elastic waistband pants in our relationship.

Imperial Stout de Barcelona, muy rica. Con cuerpo y toques torrefactos, a café y a cacao. Se va uno satisfecho al probarla. Etiqueta rara.

Tasting chalice glass. Black color headed by beige crown that leaves lasting ring despite its high ABV. Aroma profile displays intense guirlache (burnt brown sugar candy), smoked & burnt caramel notes, dried figs & muscatel hints. Roasted, no-cloying sweet & herbal upfront. Full body. Soft carbonation. Mouthfeel is dense, velvety & unctuous. Low bitterness just to balanced sweetness & evident but no-bothering alcohol. Long sweet finish & memories of muscatel on the aftertaste. A big one!!
