maeib (4072), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England May 17, 2006 Bottled. A mahogany brown coloured beer with no head. The aroma is malty with brown sugar, brown bread and alcohol notes. The taste is also nice and malty. Berry fruits and raisins amidst a woody background. A nice body and a real nice taste. Amazing how this brewery brews such variable beers. Papsoe (11030), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 1, 2005 Updated: Jun 23, 2005(Bottle 33 cl) Gee, where did I get this beer? I don’t remember. But it doesn’t really matter either, because these Combe Aux Loups beers are excellent. This one is filtered, dark mahogany-coloured, nice head. Malty, slightly coffeeish with a discreet sweetness. Extremely harmonic and well balanced. 091203 omhper (10901), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 25, 2004 Bottled. Dark brown. Sweet with clean maltiness. Some crystal malt character. Flowery, lighlty soapy finish with quite some bitterness. LoveCaissa (873), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 19, 2003 Interesting and unusually dark biere de garde (in my experience anyway). Had a hard time describing it but here are my notes: "Heavy" fruits (plums, dates?), medium sweet (caramel), light alcohol. RichardGretton (2699), Leicestershire, England Jul 29, 2007 Bottle@Les Planches pres Arbois, Jura, France. Brown beer with a reddish tinge and a light head. The aroma is watery, lightly roasted and caramel. The flavour is rich and quite weakly toffee. Overall a good mildly strong malty beer.
