750ml Bottle from a mixed case. Cloudy straw colour, dense offwhite head. Warm spicy aroma, and a hint of fruity citrus and spice in the flavour. Perhaps a little thin for a 7.0% strong ale. Not complex or demanding, but very drinkable
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Palme (1200) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 1, 2011
0.75l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew + friends. This one pours a light cloudy straw golden body with a nice big and bubbly lasting heavy lacing white head. The aroma has strong notes of Belgian yeast, it’s kinda spicy and pepperish but also a thin papery hint. Average carbonated with a thin and light oily mouthfeel. The flavors also light yeasty with a mild grapy sour and peppery tone. Also a noticeable alcohol note in a mild warming finish. A bit thin bodied perhaps, but definitely a drinkable blonde.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Foffern (115) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 16, 2011
Yellow straw-coloured, hazy. White frothy head which diminish to a thin layer. Perfumy aromas of classic belgian yeast. Some sweetness and alcohol. Flavours of hay and grains with a mild hop-touch. A sweetnes in the background, and medium bitterness. A bit slick and some watery mouthfeel. Overall a typical good and well-balanced belgian ale.
