Though a Belgian Dark Ale on untappd, my review will be based on what ratebeer says. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a nice looking hazy dark brown color with a one to two finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing sticking and sliding at the same time. The smell had a glossed over slightly cooked sugary and slight chocolate /glazed cakey sort of breadiness. The taste pretty much copied the smell with a light sweet chocolatey aftertaste leading to a sweet wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation sat pretty good for the style and for me. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Belgian Strong Ale and a good Belgian Dark Ale. I’d have it again.

75cl bottle. Cloudy brown colour with a generous tan head. Spices, ginger, liquorice, fruits, caramel and chocolate in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is more on the bitter side with some fruity notes and dry finish. Overall, a very good beer for these long winter nights.

BrunoSanchez (173) - Fermo, ITALY - DEC 10, 2014

The taste is a delicious mixture of licorice and coffe notes, combined with a heavy alcohol taste and an oily dru finish that lasts - no; sticks! A nice, full bodies christmas ale that tastes stronger than it finally is.

pours hazy/cloudy light brown reddish with a frothy almost rocky light beige dirty head, good retention and lacing. spicy toasted peppery maltiness, some chocolate and fresh coffee, very spicy - aniseed, cloves and nutmeg; berry fruitiness, very yeasty - chewy, but mostly spicy, peppery and fruity; bitter herbs. bright and almost foamy carbonation, light body - kind of watery, relatively dry grassy-spicy-peppery finish. classic spicy belgian. nicely crafted.

Some raisin and a little nutmeg or something like that here. Pours opaque maroon with good head and lacing. Finishes with some sweetness and a zing of citrus. Light florals. Tap at pizzeria paradiso Dupont.
