ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA Nov 3, 2005 Bottled. Pours murky light copper in color with a big white head that fades leaving a thick lacing on the glass. Aromas of bananas, clove, yeast, pears, paper and dust (?). Flavors seems a bit watery and astringent (it coats my tongue). HOWEVER. The underlying flavors hint at what this bottle may have been or it could have possibly been. Fruitiness galore with a bit of sourness. Alcohol is barely perceivable. I hope to retry this and rerate soon. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Oct 13, 2005 Poured from a bottle. Lovely aroma. Very fruity and malty with hints of summer fruits such as bananas, apricots, peaches, and pineapple. Lots of yeast in the flavor that contradicts the fruitiness. This is very good and sort of strange for a tripel in that it has some peppery spices and a strange aftertaste. The tropical fruitiness of this beer really does it for me though. Tripels are becoming one of my favorite styles. presario (2955), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Oct 3, 2005 Poperinge had a bottle open on his flight back from Belgium so we had to drink as soon as it was unpacked. Obviously somewhat unsettled. Cloudy orange. Light but lasting head. Smells like a very good wheat with banana and yeast. Full flavour of orange, banana and yeast. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Sep 19, 2005 A Mes rate:
A very high quality tripel. Quite dark for a tripel. Rather cloudy with a decent thin head that lasted very well. Apricot and slight malt in the nose. Flavour is similar but with some peach in there too. Peach? I dont even like peach! Sweet and tangy. This is damn fine stuff. Finish is long, starting with marzipan and gradually going bitter. I am not the biggest fan of tripels but I reckon this is top drawer stuff. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 18, 2005 (Bottle 75 cl) Hazy amber colour with a small, creamy head. Aroma is malty with notes of yeast. Flavour comes with sweet malt and typical ale notes of fruit. Dry, lightly bitter finish. A pleasant drink. 160905 aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA Sep 11, 2005 When your best girl friend is puking int he bathroom after her bachlorette party you have to drink something to pass the early morning hours--the Rulles was much to grand for this calling but a welcome respite from the american canned beers and shots of the night’s activities. Seemed to have more alcohol than posted, full of flavor, warm bodied, sweet finish, a relished treasured drinkable friend with an inviting label that I think I spoke to. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Sep 11, 2005 750ml. bottle. Hazy golden/orange color with a large white head. Aroma is fruity
(peaches), spicy(pepper, coriander) and yeasty. Flavor was pretty mild, more saison-like than a tripel. It had the same fruity/spicy flavor that the aroma indicated, but was kind of dull and watery. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Sep 10, 2005 This poured cloudy gold with good head. Spice and earth and yeast notes in the nose. taste was great, some pepper, some malt and spice, fruit and a bit of hop. Clean, dry clean finish.
