ccoburn (22), Leawood, Kansas, USA May 21, 2008 Pours a hazy gold with creamy white head. Aroma is floral, light caramel and alcohol. Spices i can’t put my finger on. Flavor is malty dryness, some apple or pear, something similar, full silky body. One of my personal favorites. TeamTrappist (363), jericho, New York, USA May 18, 2008 Draft at the Gingerman, NYC. Poured a cloudy blonde with a thin head. Spicy and slightly hoppy nose.Similar flavors, with a bit of an alcohol bit. Had some wheat like qualities to it. TAR (2087), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA May 10, 2008 Yellow gold. Tiny-bubbled, densely packed foam adorns the glass with wispy lace patterns. Lively floral and herbal hop scents line the nose. Secondary notes of creamed peaches, plasticy phenols, pistachios, and candy sugar. Snug, fluffy carbonation. Creamy yeast foundation and a medley of vibrant tropical-fruit esters softly embrace the zippy and succulent floral hops. Fluffiness of the malt is beautifully mirrored by its crisp crackery definition which underscores the immaculate attenuation. Zingy notes of cantaloupe, mango, and Juicy Fruit gum are illuminated by the brisk, crackly phenols. Peppery yeast lends lots of character. Hops generate a dab of resins which coat the palate but do not detract from the lustrous array of subtleties. Though not to detrimental levels, a distant note of aspirin rigidly exudes. Bitterness is otherwise squeaky clean due to the delightfully pillowy yeastiness which gently softens its blow. Alcohol is brilliantly concealed throughout. Herbal- and lime-tinged bitterness gracefully penetrates the soft malt and yeast toward the finish. Closes dryish and elegantly with a blend of pear, green raisins, zesty hops, and creamy yeast. A rather rustic and earthy Triple which is largely defined by its characterful strain (Orval) of yeast. Just short of extravagant. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA May 9, 2008 A highly enjoyable trippel. Hazy golden pour with an ample two finger rocky head. A bit of apricots initially, prevalent yeastiness, with some hints of spice, and a surprising amount of bitterness in the finish. Rounds out to be pretty clean and quaffable. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 2, 2008 golden hazy appearance with huge white head. flavor is tremendous with some spicy notes and a sweet fruity finish. tastes like a champagne yeast may be used Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Apr 25, 2008 Pours amber and slightly darker than the other tripels I sampled. Smells of honey, citrus, molasses, some spice, hints of ginger. Tastes of light earthy malt, some crisp dry hints, lots of spice, coriander, a hint of bitterness. Enjoyable. LordCorkscrew (939), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy Apr 23, 2008 Ho un sonno terribile, è l’ora che vado a dormire; comunque sta birra è veramente ottima provatela. mickblueeyes (106), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Apr 22, 2008 Color: Honey brown with white foamy head and heavy lacing. Lots of suspended, flocculated yeast.
Nose: Soft and honeyed, caramel, yeast and bready notes.
