750 ml bottle from Systembolaget, Sweden. The beer has a hazy amber colour and a big, three finger hight, white head. Nose: Belgian yeast, apple, ginger, hpney, perfume, spices and herbs. Mouth: Orange, honey, coriander and sweet malt. Medium body and carbonation - Perfect! I can’t belive that this beer has 8.4% ABV - They have managed to hide the alcohol well.

A fantastic triple. Maybe one of the better ones I’ve had. Lots of sweet Belgian pastry, and sweet bitter flavours. No alcohol detected. All the flavours shine in this.

Hazy golden body with a long-lived white head, good lacing. Strong aroma of Belgian yeast, spices, faint fruits, honey, pale malts and sugar. Strong flavour of Belgian yeast, spices, alcohol and honey. Moderate sweet taste with a moderate to light bitter long-lasting finish. Mid-bodied, a bit dry, rather lively carbonation. A very nice tripel!

75cl bottle, 2014 from notes. Cloudy golden pour, very nice whipped eggwhite head. Classic BE tripel with a good malt base sweetness to balance out the Rulles trademark assertive grassy hop bitterness. Nearly no abv fumes here, allowing the peach/pear esters and some pepper to break through, whilst not really making any of them shine due to a starchy mid. Still well drinkable, good mouthfeel.

Rating from old notes, tasted this at a Zythos Bierfestival (in Sint-Niklaas, I think 2005) but apparently overlooked it when entering my old ratings here. Peach blonde beer with yellowish white, moussy head and yeasty as well as lightly spicy hoppy aroma, bit phenolic, bit estery; fruity taste, yeasty but not too dull, light citrussy freshness, sweetish malts with a caramelly touch, full mouthfeel, herbal and lightly spicy but otherwise rather subdued hop bitterness in the finish. Certainly not unpleasant, in fact a rather interesting one in this somewhat tedious Belgian style, but I’d have to taste this anew, as I assume it has inevitably changed in ten years time...

Top Belgian tripel. Aroma of hops, malts and yeast, the way it should be. All well balanced, no offflavors. Very floral and grainy, quite rustic smell to it. Taste is decent tripel, where again hop malts and yeast are so balanced. Mild bitterness, toasted grainy aftertaste and a nice yeasty aftertaste (orval yeast i think). Hops are typical for the Ardenne brews, very floral and grassy. After drinking a lot of IPA’s or RIS or Pepper infused salted smoked dingdong beers, a good Belgian tripel wil ALways stand out. This one is for me one of the best Belgian tripels.
