| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2006 750ml bottle. Sweet, flowery aroma, some honey and doughy yeast apparent, along with lighter touches of perfume, leafy, herbal hop, peach, white grape and light, grainy malts. Deep golden amber color, clear, with a lasting, frothy white head and strands of lacing coating the glass. Flavor profile is rather mellow for a beer of this strength, sweet and lightly fruity to start, some light citrus noted, thereafter seeing an influx of spicy hop flavor and bitterness that carries through to the finish, which also features some light, peppery alcohol notes, gentle acidity and dusty yeast. Mouthfeel is smooth, warming and light, body is medium-full. Enjoyable. JPDIPSO (4944), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2005 Tosa Tasting. Hazy golden color with some fish food and a taller white head. Rose buds and pale malt aromas are full and forward. Flavors are of light peach and fruity in a perfume kind of way. Similar to Duvel but quite a bit more fruity, almost too much so. The aroma really helps this one. CaptainCougar (5549), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2005 Shared at the Tosa Tasting courtesy of JPDIPSO: Hazy bronze golden color with a frothy lightly lacing white head. Fresh European hoppy aroma has a subtle caramel Belgian malty sweetness and hints of strawberries. Body is amazingly lacking the sweetness that the aroma told of. Instead it has more of a dry earthiness and a floral finish with some bready yeastiness. An interesting triple with a great aroma and mediocre body. Thanks John for sharing! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Cloudy orange, nice sized white head. Spicy, clean, soapy, slightly fruity aroma. Nicely full bodied. Mellow citrus - lemon, lime, mango, - mixes with a heavy white eine flavor. Nice herbal notes dry it out at the finish. Dickinsonbeer (3604), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2005 750 ml bottle. Pours a nice slightly hazy gold with a decetn head and lace. Aroma is more spicy and phenolic compared to some other tripels at the tasting (Dulle Teve, Westmalle, Alllagash, St Bernardus, Golden Monkey & Karmeliet). Flavor is moderately sweet, but balanced out with a good amount of earthy and spicy hops along with the phenolics and spices. Finishes a little light and dry, but overall pretty smooth. aracauna (2427), Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 8, 2006 Pours a nice amber with a tall, sticky cream head that sticks to the glass thickly. Heavily perfumed with fruits and phenols, there’s even a light unroasted nuttiness in there as well. Fairly sweet body and a bit of heat in there from the alcohol. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2005 The Lure: A soft Spalt-y, piney and peppery hop pillow on which is sprinkled some orange zest. Simple dreams ensue.
The Festivities: Piney hops rise proudly above the bitter yeast beach. Fluffy waves tropically crash on the back of the palate, decreasing the level of seriousness of the flavors.
Transcendence: A northern summer sun is a vivifying refreshment.
