COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Socarrada is a "gastro-ale," or food-pairing golden ale made with only, water, malts (pils/amber), hops, yeast, rosemary, and rosemary honey. La Socarrada pours a beautiful golden-amber color with a light, white, non-persistant head. The nose is wonderfully appetizing, filled with rosemary, rosemary-honey, and a light bread-like quality. The taste is full of rosemary, rosemary honey, and fruity characteristics along the lines of pear, apple, and fig. There is also a distinct gingery bite as well as a light note of black pepper. The body is both crisp and pleasantly dry. It is recommended to be served around 45° in a white wine glass or snifter.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2014 Bottle from El corte ingles palma. Cloudy orange smooth light yellow head aroma is quite spicy rosemary and perhaps thyme and oregano. Flavor is rosemary ,herbs and quite delicate malts and hops. Full flavored malts and hops in fact a pretty awesome velvety base beer, but then it seems like somebody went berserk with the rosemary. End result might work out quite well over pasta and tomato.

Bottle courtesy of SR. Hazy orange coloured with an off-white head. Nose is fruits, malty, rosemary. Flavour is lots of rosemary, a bit woody due to the herbal stuff, malty alight fruits, fairly bitter and a bit dry. Bit of honey. Rosemary overkill if you have to finish a whole botle. A bit gimmicky.

330ml bottle from Hipercor, Oviedo. @home 28-06-2014.
BBD:08-06-2015.
Limited release for the Football World Championship 2014, labeled "A por ellos". Also stated "La mejor cerveza del mundo" (best beer in the world) in the label. Sin miedo...
In short: a spicy ale.
Pours hazy to cloudy amber-Orange, with little off white head. Short head retention, some scattered lacing. Rosemary aromas, dominating ones and hiding everything else. Medium body, average carbonation, some crispy texture. Taste is sweet, smooth palate, rosemary overwhelms, some harsh honey and not too much else. A bit palate saturating imo, but maybe more drinkable than De Molen´s "Hierba & Tierra". Despite this pretty well executed.
I was seeing this beer in stores for many monts, but for my experience with spanish crafts and their motto of "best beer in the world" (brewers of the world, here comes La Socarrada...) i refused to have it till now.

Bottle from a deli in Llanes, Asturia, Tuesday 17th June 2014 consumed at Frank (camper) at Camping Cantilles, Luarca, Asturia, Spain, Thursday 19th June 2014 Pours mid amber with a thin white head. The aroma is a mixture of ginger preserve, honey and with a heady floralness. Taste is rosemary, sweet honey and a little herby (I guess rosemary again) there is a beer here amongst the other flavours and it is likeable, though Loz ain’t as keen as me. Quite good. This is OK. Enjoyed the honey and rosemary but something is missing... Mouthful could be the problem. Enjoyable.

Beautifully well played. The hint of rosemary on the nose to follow with a subtle touch of honey was captivating. I believe I’ll have another

750ml bottle at Stu’s. Gusher! Once it settled down, poured hazy gild with a thick white head. Aromas are spicy, bready, honey and just picking up the rosemary. Taste brings more spice and fruit. Really interesting beer.

Un original toque de romero. Se supone que también tiene miel de romero, pero no la hace nada dulce. Tomar muy fria.
