COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Socarrada is a "gastro-ale," or food-pairing golden ale made with only, water, malts (pils/amber), hops, yeast, rosemary, and rosemary honey. La Socarrada pours a beautiful golden-amber color with a light, white, non-persistant head. The nose is wonderfully appetizing, filled with rosemary, rosemary-honey, and a light bread-like quality. The taste is full of rosemary, rosemary honey, and fruity characteristics along the lines of pear, apple, and fig. There is also a distinct gingery bite as well as a light note of black pepper. The body is both crisp and pleasantly dry. It is recommended to be served around 45° in a white wine glass or snifter.

330 ml bottle. Cloudy golden orange colour, thin white head. Sweetish herbal aroma with citrus and malt. The flavour is also sweet, with honey and rosemary, some lemon in there as well. I didn’t know what to expect when I opened the bottle, but this turned out to be quite interesting.

Bottle from choice beverages in McKinney. Pours a cloudy dull yellow with a thin white head. The aromas are rosemary, honey, light grass, lemon. The mouthfeel is dry with a light body and low carbonation. Very interesting brew indeed! Great sessionable beer. Rosemary is noticeable without overpowering. Light honey sweetness as well as faint grassy and fruity notes. Subtle and interesting.

I think the aroma on this one just ruins it from the get go. Despite smelling like really nice marinara sauce, the canned tomato impression never really goes away or develops into something worth the challenge.

Cloudy dark yellow / orange colour with a white head that stays thinly on top for a long time.could place the aroma but after reading the ingredients i think it was the rosemary. Enjoyable beer that is slightly above the average with the hint of rosemary in the taste. Extremely refreshing body.

330 ml bottle.
Pours a hazy golden amber colour with a white thick head. Aroma is very strong with rosehip, honey and pepper. Flavour of light bready malts, rosehip, green apples, strong pepper and lime. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and a dryish spicy finish. Refreshing.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 08/2013
Aroma is rather spicy with rosehip. Also some sweet malt in the background. Flavour is also rather spicy with rosemary, some rosehip and some sweetish malt in the finish. Too spicy but kind of interesting.
