La Socarrada is a "gastro-ale," or food-pairing golden ale made with only, water, malts (pils/amber), hops, yeast, rosemary, and rosemary honey. La Socarrada pours a beautiful golden-amber color with a light, white, non-persistant head. The nose is wonderfully appetizing, filled with rosemary, rosemary-honey, and a light bread-like quality. The taste is full of rosemary, rosemary honey, and fruity characteristics along the lines of pear, apple, and fig. There is also a distinct gingery bite as well as a light note of black pepper. The body is both crisp and pleasantly dry. It is recommended to be served around 45° in a white wine glass or snifter.

Light orange color. Hazy. Thin white ring head. Lots of vegetable and dirt in the aroma. The flavor is just weird and mainly old veggie peel followed by rosemary. I like rosemary but not in my beer. :he.palate is a little rough and the finish gluey.

Would drink it again. Very light and full flavored. The nose is weak and doesn't really hint at what you are about to taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught. Nose is slightly sweet with an earthy rosemary note. Cloudy bright orange with no head. Rosemary is pretty forward but balanced by the sweet floral honey tones and spicy yeast character. Soft carbonation and thickness leave a very full impression on the palate.

Peppery aroma with a definite rosemary notes. Clear honey color in the glass. Fairly soft on the palate some honey notes and definite rosemary flavor notes. Overall, i’m quite impressed! This makes me want to experiment with rosemary in my homebrews...

330ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Hazy yellow color. Smells of horse sweat, leather. Herbs, spices, quite strong rosemary in flavor. Slightly slick and buttery texture.

330ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Helsinki)
Nice herbal aroma, a little savoury and a bit leathery, but gently sweet too - nice. Smooth palate, gentle carbonation. Hayey palate, but smooth and sweet primarily. Kinda fake fruitiness in the finish. Very clear rosemary, but a little sweet. Very floral late finish. Gentle hops pop their head up occasionally too, the late finish has quite a tingly bitter finish. A curious beer that pulls in several different directions, and isn’t well integrated. Maybe it could do with a bit more ageing.

Pours a hazey honey orange-golden in color with light white head. Quite herbal sweet aroma, dominated by rosemary. Light and moderately sweet transitioning to to an earthy herbal rosemary finish. A great light, different beer that would go well with almost anything.
