La Socarrada is a "gastro-ale," or food-pairing golden ale made with only, water, malts (pils/amber), hops, yeast, rosemary, and rosemary honey. La Socarrada pours a beautiful golden-amber color with a light, white, non-persistant head. The nose is wonderfully appetizing, filled with rosemary, rosemary-honey, and a light bread-like quality. The taste is full of rosemary, rosemary honey, and fruity characteristics along the lines of pear, apple, and fig. There is also a distinct gingery bite as well as a light note of black pepper. The body is both crisp and pleasantly dry. It is recommended to be served around 45° in a white wine glass or snifter.

750ml bottle at Stu’s. Gusher! Once it settled down, poured hazy gild with a thick white head. Aromas are spicy, bready, honey and just picking up the rosemary. Taste brings more spice and fruit. Really interesting beer.

The rosemary and honey notes are clearly appreciable in the aroma but are more subtle in the palate. Tan head and cloudy amber appearance. Not very fizzy, medium body and long aftertaste.

Cloudy amber with a big off-white head that lasts forever and laces thickly. Aroma of rosemary, citrus, and caramel. Tastes lightly malty, more heavily bitter and herbal. Dry, medium bodied.

Bottle. Pours a murky gold with white head. Aroma is very pleasant, notes of rosemary, tropical fruit and subtle malt. Flavor is very herbal, similar to aroma with a light sweetness, almost medicinal but interesting. Mouthfeel is soft with medium carbonation. Overall, interesting brew, not sure if I like it or hate it, non the less, I will finish it and may have another down the road.

Pours cloudy straw with a white head. Aroma: Pale malt, yeast, barnyard. Grassy hops. Cardamom. Cinnamon rolls. Taste: Mild sweet, mild bitter. Palate: Medium body, noticeable carbonation. Quite thin body. Pretty good.

Medium gold pour, decent head. Nose is light rosemary, herbs, and malt. Sweet on the tongue. Middle is the interesting part; woody, honey coated, rosemary flowers. Finish is lightly bitter and long. Not for everyday, but this beer could grow on you.

The rosemary here is just more pleasant on the nose than the palate. Smells like a rosemary forest. But upon drinking, one soon discovers the rosemary is truly alone. No interest from the yeast, no backing from malt, and no balance from hops. Really an interesting beer, and I am not sorry to have tried it, but it just doesn’t have the complexity that would have made it great.

Pretty gold with a little lacing. Nose started out as rosemary with some greeneness and honey then got a bit stinky. Drinks almost like an IPA with the honey rounding out the mouthfeel then black pepper spiceyness and some rosemary then a honey sweetness and more black pepper. Quite interesting and much better than what it’s rated.
