La Socarrada is a "gastro-ale," or food-pairing golden ale made with only, water, malts (pils/amber), hops, yeast, rosemary, and rosemary honey. La Socarrada pours a beautiful golden-amber color with a light, white, non-persistant head. The nose is wonderfully appetizing, filled with rosemary, rosemary-honey, and a light bread-like quality. The taste is full of rosemary, rosemary honey, and fruity characteristics along the lines of pear, apple, and fig. There is also a distinct gingery bite as well as a light note of black pepper. The body is both crisp and pleasantly dry. It is recommended to be served around 45° in a white wine glass or snifter.

Bottle at DØE Ølfestival 2016. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Clear amber body. Dusty spicy coriander aroma and flavor with a fair amount of hops bitterness, low carbonation, long sweet finish.

33cl bottle from Olhops Bar in Valencia. Pours a hazy golden with frothy white head, quickly dissipates. Fair amount of particulates in beer. Very pleasant aroma of rosemary, honey, and ginger. Taste similar with notes of caramel, finishes sweet. Light body and medium fizzy carbonation, dry aftertaste. A unique ale.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a small short-lived white head. Aroma is honey, rosemary, spice, and tea. Taste is rosemary, honey, caramel malt, some fruitiness, and spice. It almost has a medicinal smell/taste to it. It’s most certainly unique, but in the end, it’s really not something I want my beer to smell or taste like.

Aroma: dominated by rosemary; smells like a rosemary cracker with fruity/sweet notes; Appearance: pours a hazy pale orange with lots of particulates suspended in the brew; scary; Taste: getting lots of rosemary and honey and that’s about it; Palate: really no carbonation, but that could be due to the age of the bottle; Overall: agree with reviewer who compared it to a rosemary cream soda. Not much of a beer.

33 cl bottle, served in a wine glass. Pours hazy amber with dim ivory head. Intense aromas of ginger (even pickled, like japanese gari), sweet mustard and lemon curd. Dry, fizzy, medium body. Very short after-taste.

Bottle from my friend Frank. A: Cloudy red body, thin white head. N: Rosemary, honey, dough, some salt, biscuit, cherry bark, and heather. T: Sweet and a bit tart. M: Light body, crisp carbonation, no alcohol. O: Kind of weird. I’m not sure what they were going for here, but the flavors do not blend together and I did not enjoy this in the slightest.
