COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
La Socarrada is a "gastro-ale," or food-pairing golden ale made with only, water, malts (pils/amber), hops, yeast, rosemary, and rosemary honey. La Socarrada pours a beautiful golden-amber color with a light, white, non-persistant head. The nose is wonderfully appetizing, filled with rosemary, rosemary-honey, and a light bread-like quality. The taste is full of rosemary, rosemary honey, and fruity characteristics along the lines of pear, apple, and fig. There is also a distinct gingery bite as well as a light note of black pepper. The body is both crisp and pleasantly dry. It is recommended to be served around 45° in a white wine glass or snifter.

I am not very fan of honey beers, but it was a gift from my wife. It was a nice surprise to me. Colour pale amber with a thin head that dissapers very quickly. Aroma is plenty of rosemary and herb, very refreshing. Taste is a mirrow of the aroma. Lots of rosemary at the beginning, then you can feel the rosemary honey coming in. The mix is really good, because of the rosemary, the beer is not so much sweet due to the honey add. Non alcohol apreciated. Neutral yeast notes and low bitterness of fresh herbal hops. Dry and nice finish. Good and original beer. If you are not a rosemary fan, you may find it excesive.

Clear amber beer, tidy white head. Palate is lightly crisp. Mild minerals. Light creamy malt, medium sweet. Fairly big rosemary with a slight minty vibe. Finishes slightly dry. Pretty herby but pretty drinkable.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2014 330 ml. bottle poured into a Pint glass Appearance....... Amber hazy beer with head colour white of 1.5 finger aprox Aroma............... rosemary, honey and yeast . malty aroma with predominance of honey touch Taste........ Rosemary and malt notes overwhelming hop presence, touch of bitterness is missed. Mouthfeel........... medium/full body and soft carbonation Overall............ a very recomendable winter ale, in my opinion with hops touch in the end could be amazing, but it is a nice ale.

Reddish brown, cloudy, small head on the edges. Very fruity, spices and honey. Medium sweetness, very light bitterness. A bit odd combination of tastes. Still probably the best Spanish beer I have tried so far.

Bottle from Barcelona. Slightly hazy pale orange-amber color, small white head. Herbs in the aroma: rosemary or oregano. Light to medium-bodied. Malts, herbs then light bitterness in the finish. Honey is lurking in the background. Herbs usually don’t improve beer, this one included. Quite Italian touch in this one.
