Drank on tap (20 oz) at the brewpub, on August 4, 2011. Reddish light, medium head. Raw hops aroma, notes of sweet herbs. Taste of herbs and citrus dry slightly sweet notes of fresh hops, good bitterness. It is a category triple A!

On tap at La Succursale.The color is a clear dark amber with with a thick off white head. The aroma is of hops and citrus fruits mostly grapfruit very strong and good aroma. The taste also of hops, grapefruits, malt herbs.The finish is a pleasant bitterness that lives a clean and refreshing taste in your mouth.Gooood.

Un verre sur place. Pour mon ami ce fut le clou de la soirée, pour moi cette bière est vraiment bonne mais la Petite Cote est mon coup de cœur. Belle couleur cuivrée-orangée. Le nez est franchement invitant avec toutes ses effluves d’abricot et de pamplemousse. Le corps est bien, le malt supporte tout les houblons, c’est le faire valoir. Les houblons sont bien présents. L’amertume est puissante. J’aime cette bière.

En ce qui me concerne, la triple «A» est littéralement sortie du lot lors de notre après-midi de dégustation. La présentation était quasi impeccable : une robe ambrée et sa mousse solide. Le nez était explosif en fruits (mandarines et pêches) et soutenu de belle façon par une base maltée qui s’exprimait en caramel épicé. Les saveurs étaient gorgées de houblons amérisants qui laissaient une très grande place à leurs parfums fruités. La proposition me semblait faiblement touchée par la résine : une chose heureuse pour mes papilles. La réponse maltée était juste. L’impression en bouche était bien satisfaisante : le corps possédait une belle rondeur avec son pétillement modéré et sa texture huileuse. La finale témoignait de la qualité de l’offrande. Des notes longuement amères et parfumées par des morceaux de pamplemousses sucrés et par des notes florales piquantes.

On tap at the brewpub. Copper pour with white head. Aroma of grassy, piney and grape-fruity hops. Quite malty for an IPA, lots of toffee notes as well. Taste is quite bitter with some sweet maltiness, not much hop "flavor" at all. Palate is a bit too rich for the style, could be a lot drier. It’s okay, but this is probably the beer I’ve liked the least from these guys.

A towery white foam covers the clear amber liquid with golden reflections. Unmistakenly American hop nose provide abundant sweaty, piney, resinous notions with surprisingly limited Citrus aromas. In mouth, the straightforward maltiness adds a biscuity structure, but remains simple enough, enhancing drinkability. It’s impressive how much hop aroma is carried onward over the palate. The bitterness, never subtle and bustling with hop cone resins and oiliness is sharp, yet not overly so for the style, still supported by more than fair cereal bill. Never too sweet yet never too bitter. I can see myself enjoying this IPA a whole lot if I dug the hop bill just a tad more. I’m not overly fond of sweaty resinous varietals like Columbus myself. Nevertheless, I appreciate the route taken, avoiding excessive caramelized notes. Good stuff and great-looking.

En fût. Pinte dégustée directement à la brasserie. Arôme: Odeur d’agrumes avec une pointe de caramel. Apparence: La couleur est dorée avec une faible densité de bulle. Présence d’un moyen col mousseux et d’une large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de pamplemousse avune pointe de pin et de caramel. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement onctueuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Présence d’agrumes en arrière goût. (Rating #4032)

My Bottom Line :
Citrusy hops are supported by lenient caramel malts, as resinous hops slowly establish themselves in the finish.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam covers the misty pale amber.
-The citrusy component is tropical at times, while the meeting with caramel sweetness evokes peach syrup at other times.
-The mouthfeel is on the dry side of things for this style, which increases its drinkability.
-This is not a hop bomb of an IPA like many American versions are. It is a highly flavorful yet diplomatic take on the style.
-All of their brews are really professional. This has become yet another very nice brewpub to visit in Montreal.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2012 Peu amère mais très juteuse. Fruits exotiques en vedette. Rien d’exceptionnel mais très solide.

on tap at brewpub. clear bright golden, orange tint, nice off-white creamy head, very good lacing. strawberry-grapefruit, pine, some sweetness. nice toasted malts, medium hopped. soft to average carbonation, silky, medium long grapefruit-peppery finish. nice brew!

At brewpub on Rue Masson, Mtrl. Not very strong aroma but hints of citrus and apricot. Very bitter yet refreshing. Some rotten fruit in the taste as well. A hint of grain in an aftertaste which is otherwise markedly bitter
