COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

On tap at the brewpub. Nice gold pour with white head. Aroma of light english hops and fresh cereals, very tame nose that doesn’t offer much unless you pay strict attention. Taste is quite enjoyable, nice balance of cereals with a light hoppy finish. Palate is light but not watery. This beer is sessionable but a little boring. A good and well-made, if slightly unremarkable, take on the style.

(Rating #3672)

My Bottom Line:
Orange tea-like hops float atop the biscuity Marris Otter malts before leafy, mineral hop bitterness slowly builds on the palate.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the coppery amber.
-This was sweeter than expected for a 4% Bitter, and so not as drinkable as their wonderful Kölsch, for example. This is their first batch though, so a re-rate is in order later this summer.
-Lean caramel is nearly alleviated by spritzy bubbles (not relaxed enough for my tastes in the style).
-The hop profile in the finish wasn’t as defined as the hop aroma.
-Even though this was not a standout today, this Bitter still shows that only professional brews will come out of La Succursale’s tanks.

On tap at the brewpub.
