UPDATED: JUL 25, 2011 NEW RATING ---> devo ammettere che pian piano abbiamo ingranato, e ci siamo!

On tap at Selezione Birra 2012, Rimini. Pours a light brown color with a small white head. Aroma is quite weak with notes of grass and grain. Taste is lightly malty and bitter with a slight nuttiness probably given by the chestnut flour. Good carbonation. Nothing amazing.

Bottle in Genoa, purchased from an Enoteca on the seafront parade. Hazy amber beer, bubbly off white head. Light dry palate. Sourish tangy orange and citrus. Fine carbonation. Not sure if this is meant to be sourish, it’s okay though!

Bottled, aged 1 month (left it at home while out of town); bottle is standard label with the mug in which the Genoese "Lanterna" drowns, pouring out a bit of liquid which, in this case, is brown (like chestnuts); colour is pale yellow with small white head. Aroma is full of chestnuts, autumn and sweet; not much of the burnt notes we were used to find in the old "Castagnasca" brewed for the Fabbrica Birra Busalla by Andrea Mura (now head brewer of La Superba); taste is overtly sweet with relevant presence of the chestnut flour. The recipe seems to have changed a bit, and not for better; anyway, not a bad beer, even if a very unrefined chestnut flavored lager.
