COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Caught a cold in Tuscany so my tasting notes could not be at the top for this. Bottle has the brewery logo, a mug of beer with the Genoese "Lanterna" drowning into - or maybe rising from - it, raising a big foam of different color depending on what brew we’re tasting, and here it’s obviously green. I mean obviously because this beer is flavored with basil and was designed for pairing with the delicious and worldwide famous Genoese "pesto" (a dressing for pasta with basil, pine nuts and cheese). This is in fact a basil flavoured lager, built on the basis of Andrea’s good pils (Caea), with less hops; look is very promising, a nice head crowns a deep gold, hazy liquor. Aroma is impressive, with strong notes of fresh basil all over the place, this is the famous basil from Pra (now a suburb of Genoa, but has lots of cultivations of this fine herb on the terraces of the hills behind the town). It also dominates the flavor, which is a bit unbalanced to malt sweetness (it’s a wonderful beer for breakfast); a bit watery, needs a little dryness in the finish but somehow works very well. Alcohol content is hardly perceivable, I don’t believe it’s precisely 4.5%ABV but a bit less; a refreshing, characteristic, unique brew. Bravo Andrea.
