The worst stout I have ever had. I usually rate the beers I liked, not the ones that find just good... but this, as with the 3 other beers I tried from la Tour à bière, is just point blank bad! Aroma is of hay, maybe some coffee, and over roasted. Color, dark, very flat looking dark, no head. Taste is just awful. Oily texture... Best I can advise, is stay away from La tour à Bière beers!

Aroma: Roasted malt, molasses and a bit of smoke. There’s also a little repulsing meat accent. Appearance: Black, very opaque, head is brown, generous, creamy, long lasting but with no lacing. Taste: Roasted malt bitterness is kind of powerful with a lot of smoke and coffee notes. Flavors are having a hard time sticking out. Missing sweet notes like molasses and caramel. Texture and body are light, carbonation is lively. Not my kind of stout.

Retournez à vos notes!! 500 ml bottle, had it while cooking dinner. Pours a deep black with no head. Smells like mocha coffee. Tastes like milk chocolate, hazelnuts and sweet milk. Almost no bitterness. Body is light. I thought it was quite alright as an aperitif.

Originally rated June 2006. Bought in Laval at the Dépanneur À Tout Prix. Pours a real dark black colour (no red highlights) with a brown bubbly-cream head that dissipates fast enough for a beer of this kind. No lacing is left behind. Many sediments of yeast fall to the bottom of the glass. The nose is roasted with malt, cacao, molasse and some light candy. Flat mouthfeel that is watery. The taste is a bit dull, lacking the punch of a real stout. Hardly any bitterness and the roasted malt is kind of dull. Some coffee, biscuit malt and candy. Decent aftertaste that lingers. Not a terrible brew, but does not beat other Quebec stout like the St. Ambroise Noire and Boréale Noire.

Bouteille 650 ml. 5%. Couleur noire, mousse fugace. Arôme de café et malt grillé. Goût de chocolat, café au lait..un peu aqueuse. Finale sans amertume. Correct

Bomber from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a fair light mocha head that disappears quickly. Aroma: Unpleasant, sour organic acid notes, burnt nuts, some black coffee and dark chocolate, seems like it would be decent if not infected. Palate: Medium body and moderate effervescence. Flav.: Somewhat watery and moderately infected with the tangy organic acids and gross flavours, less of the burn nuts, very little of the coffee and chocolate, a touch of caramel, not good; dry with light bitterness and a touch of brightness, the finish is a bit weak but doesn’t give much of the infection.

Haven’t had good luck with this brewery...drain pour.

Nice black body, little head however. Soft aroma of roasted barley and burnt oak. Flavour is all burnt barley, almost leaning towards ash, and I don’t like ash - sometimes when I simmer split peas or lentils they get burnt on the bottom, and after hours of cooking I get this ashy-taste that just totally pisses me off because not only did I waste my time but I also wasted food! Oh, and the mouthfeel is a bit weak. In short, I want more out of a stout.

Bière de type dry stout de 5% d’alcool, très sec, bien mousseuse, bien houblonné, bonne amertume.
