La Trappe Blond

Dark orange colored, cloudy appearance. Fastly vanishing yellow head. Nice aroma: fruits, yeast, toffee, banana and some spices. Medium bodied. Flavor is also good Belgian: yeast and spices come up strongly, banana is obvious also. Yeast in aftertaste with banana. Carbonation is surprisingly strong.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Clear amber, small head. Papery malt aroma. Sweet and mustardy with crisp, rather clean mouthfeel. Some almondy yeast, low bitterness. A streamlined, well drinkable rather balanced ale.

Pours very dark for a "blonde" with a golden brown/amber look and a decent amount of head. Aroma is lightly fruity, and a little yeasty, and the taste is sweet and a little fruity. Had this once before at a much colder temp. and it was not nearly as good, much better around 50 F.

Bottle: Poured a golden amber with a thick creamy white head. The aroma was fruit and yeast. The flavor is a mild fruit with a dry finish. Not as harsh as some blonde beer that I have sampled.

for a blond, she’s more of a strawberry blonde. darker pour for the style. 330ml slightly chilled to about 50 deg F. whole lotta grass in this nose, even some fall foliage. weird, but true. hardly any hops in the aroma, but all kinds of malt. interesting flavor; similar to the flavors of a dry riesling, but with more alcohol flavor. also, the flavor mimics the aroma. foamy mouthfeel. the finish turns me off, as the alcohol flavor is just not what i like to see shine through. i think i like it, but i’m not really sure. as the temp increases a bit, so does the flavor.

330ml bottle straight from the cellar. Plenty of fruity notes on the nose; banana, peach, apricot, bit of honey and spice, bit of gassy too. Pours a thick looking golden body with big white head and sparce lace. Rich texture, surupy, with a bit of creaminess still. Palate full of banana and stone fruits, sweet, citrus, dry slightly abrupt finish with a lingering note reminisant of drinking an orange liqueur. An enjoyable ale.

Bottle. Nice big head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma is yeast and some fruit. Taste is sweet and fruity.

Solid, if unspectacular. Certainly not up to the stands set by other Trappist products. Looks good, but with a LOT of carbonation. Doesn’t have a strong aroma or defining taste. Like drinking an attempted trappist beer
