pour a sparking golden with a nice white heady. Malty aroma, heavy of the citrus. The flavor is slightly sour fruityness, sharp on the tounge wih lots of carbonation and a hint of alcohol. finishes dry. a good blonde.

Buttery, banana and bubblegum nose, with a slight touch of spice. Flavor was pretty thin with not much beyond sweet banana and light malt.

Beautiful orange color that sparkles. Nice malty aroma with fruits, grapefruit citrus, caramel and noticeable alcohol presence. It has a frothy white head that leaves a good lacing that sticks randomly to the glass walls. It’s sweet and fruity. Its body is light and though it is a bit watery the alcohol gives it a warming feeling at the end.

This blonde’s roots are showing, with auburn notes to a golden body. A white head fades to a thin film and slight halo. Fantastic aroma finds big, chewy toffee with juicy bubblegum, thin whisky and spice. Sour lambic funkiness adds intriguing character. Flavor finds juicy fruitiness carried in a buttery-smooth mouth, but it ends quickly with alcohol dryness. Another fine offering from De Koningshoeven as I am a big fan of their Quad.

A little startled to find that such a bland offering would come in my first tasting of a La Trappe beer. Recently re-accepted into the strict Cistercian order of Trappistes, I couldn’t help but notice the commercial influence that tarred this Blonde. Poured into a chalice, cool and not cold. A wonderful pale, orangey copper hue radiated from the glass, slightly hazy, with a thin creamy lather of foam that left minimal lace. Soft and subtle, honey, toffee and alcohol spiced aroma; nothing special. Initially it was almost flavourless in the mouth with biting carbonation that tickled the tongue, teeth and gums. This waned quickly and as it warmed it showed the strong sugary sweet notes of the aroma. Toffee, honey and rock candi dominates the fairly one-dimensional palate with a strong hint of medicinal alcohol in the back. Becomes cloying after a while and the sugary alcohol mix begins to rattle the teeth a little beyond being pleasurable. Had the characteristics of a European Strong Lager. Unbalanced beyond doubt, this wasn’t one for me. One for a re-rate. (30cL, BBE 06/07, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Ugly, light brown. Floral, fruity aroma with malt in the background. Same taste with balanced malt and hops. Sweet and creamy with a clean, slightly hoppy, alcoholic finish. Nice carbonation level. Great brew for spring or summer.

Nland and boring compared to theor other beers, this one has a light spicey aroma and a delicate hoppy and herbal taste with a full bodied oily finish.
