JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Aug 23, 2004 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy, darkish golden coloured. With a firm and creamy white head. Banana in the aroma. Flavour is a great sharp, fruity mixture, grapes, citrus, spices and more. Full bodied with a sharp bitter finish. Excellent Dutch beer. Golden with small white head. Yeasty, berry notes. Sweetish banana flavor. Mouthfeel is thin. Refreshing but light. (7/3/6/2/10 2.8).
Re-rated, bottled (BB 12/2008).
Hazy orange color, small steady head. Very fruity (apricot, mango, banana) nose. Carbonated. Very wheat beer like, lots of banana esters. Thin palate. (7/3/7/3/13 3.3) Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 14, 2004 Updated: Sep 9, 2007Despite it’s low rating compared to the other varieties, I really like this one. It’s a nice one to drink many of b/c it doesn’t deliver a wallop of alcohol. There is definitely an alcohol flavor but it’s subtle. This one has tons of flavor and has a bit of citrus/tart under-tones. At first I wasn’t sure how I would rate it but it has really grown on me. It seems as if the more I drink it the more I crave it. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Jun 4, 2004 Bright and glowing golden hazy appearance with a beautiful full white head. Aroma is a straw and grain sour experience... flavor is a thick and zesty mixture of white grapes, pears, lemon, bread and some yeast. Quite thick in the mouth but still feels light. Bit of a rotten pear flavor loses some points. Silphium (2117), Haslett, Michigan, USA May 8, 2004 Pours cloudy orange with a medium off-white head. Banana and orange aroma. Flavor is sharp and citrusy, with lemon, orange, and a touch of banana mingling with white grape and perhaps plum. This beer does have a yeasty cookie dough aspect. Although the palate is a bit acidic and sharp for my tastes, overall this is a good beer. matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 22, 2004 Pours with a fine hazy bronzy body and a soft downy head. The aroma brings forth notes of sweet honey, blossoming jasmine, and a fruity suggestion of plum. The flavor is all the same, but with more yeasty doughy notes, WAY more Plum… and lots of it… and ye-vast (in pirate talk) sweet honey and a little barnyard accompaniment. The palate is silky.. a very delicious Blond Ale! Sven (229), Lancaster, California, USA Apr 12, 2004 Cloudy, dark orange in colour, nice head and beautiful lace. Yeasty and spicy. Full-bodied with a lot of carbonation, tart with some bitterness. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Apr 8, 2004 Hazy copper with a moderate amount of carbonation and bright head. The aroma is spicy with some orange and honey along with some pilsner notes and hoppy notes. The flavor is has some sour plums and some light hops. The finish is sharp and sour, not refreshing. Rotten fruit and oversweet malts mix with too much carbonation.
