Kasteel blonde, but a little toned

very smooth and a little simple, not
a very trappist like, but then again,
I dont consider La Trappe beinng a

labeled as Koningshoeven. Golden orange with a firm head that leaves lacing. Aroma of fruit, apricot, bread. Creamy mouth feel, sweet and tart fruit, firm hop finish. Very nice.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark golden color, a little cloudy. Bitter-sweet aroma with hits of fruit (peaches and citrus?) Taste is a little bitter at first, then quite sweet. The finish is light and equally sweet. Not a bad beer, but a little too sweet for me.

On Tap, at the Wenlock Arms, with SilkTork
After difference in opinion on this beer, SilkTork and I agreed that it was served too cold. After efforts to warm the beer with my hands, the flavours developed noticeably. Sweet and ripe, jammy yet thin on the palate.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2008 June, 2003 On tap, Wenlock Arms, with Spiesy. Peaches, pineapple, banana, kiwi. Sweet with mild rancid bacon. Sweetness too prominent for pleasure. Initial short watery finish which returns with gentle warm bitterness later on. [3.5]
Oct, 2008 330ml bottle Huge bubblegum aroma. Quite fizzy. Again bubblegum in the taste - some clean oak vanilla, quite sherbety and sweet with a pear-drops taste, yet the mouthfeel is fairly dry. A bit of smoked bacon. A light hearted beer - very light for a 6.5%, though the plastic alcohol notes are present. It’s a reasonably enjoyable beer, but doesn’t quite pull together satisfactorily. 3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice white head of rather small bubbles with excellent carbonation. Aroma is fruity (lemon) with wheat and yeast. Color of a medium orange/gold. Flavor is smooth and well balanced with some light fruit. The carbonation makes it seem more like a champaign but without all of the sweetness. Finish is a little dry and bitter and is well balanced again. I decent belgian ale but does not have the complexity of most of the other trappist ales and is not as good as some of the other La Trappe beers.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 12, 2003 Beautiful white head, slowly diminishing leaving a nice lace. Dark golden body. Sweet and fruity aroma (apple, banana). Sweet and uncomplicated flavour finishing with a mixture of sirup and bitterness. Good "supermarket beer".

Doesn't measure up to the other La Trappe brews. Average Blonde at best.
