Dark ruby brown color, steady creamy brown head. Fruity (banana, pineapple) and woody notes. Thin mouthfeel, alcohol is not present. Bitterish finish. ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Jan 20, 2007 After a 5 min. struggle with the cork (a 750 ml bottle) a beautyful ruby color appears in my glass, with a thick and slowly diminishing foam that slowly reveals an earthy hop and malt character with some yeastiness. Flavour further adds some notes of wood? The mothfeel is creamy. Nice bitter finish. Great beer. vanvenlo (794), Glen Iris, Australia Jan 18, 2007 29 Apr 06 - Sweet malt fruit hop aroma. Brown colour, great head and good lacing. Some smokey stark malt hop flavour. Bitter hop finish and lingering hop bitterness. Lunkie (1020), Glen Iris, Australia Jan 12, 2007 Updated: Jan 18, 2007Bitter malt hop aroma. Dark brown colour with excellent head nad lacing. Biter burnt malt flavour. Smooth yet fizzy palate. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Jan 4, 2007 My eyes were almost popping out of my head when I saw this one at a friends place, he just had returned from Holland. My fingers clinged to the neck of the bottle and I could not release the grip - so I simply HAD to take it home with me ;)) The color is mahogany and the head is huge and nice. Flavour, well I admit that La Trappe has a very, special place in my heart, I simply like their beers!! It’s full-bodied and balanced with notes of roasted malt, caramel, a bit of fruit and the sweetness is just right (not nearly as sweet as many bock-beers). The alcohol is present, but not enough to disturb the picture.
