COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

A dark brown beer with a quite big and beige head. Aroma is rich and malty, dark fruits, anise, raisins and spice. Taste of dark fruits and dark bread, surprisingly dry, that enhanced by spices, also rye bread in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, lots of carbonation, that makes drinkability a slightly biting, smoother after a while. Dark fruits and dark bread, interesting combination, but execution isn’t totally successfull. Basic and good beer.

Bottle, 12C. Very dark brown with a large fluffy beige head that fades to an inch and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is not all that strong until the head fades, but has dried and stewed fruits, spiced bread, singed dark sugars. Mouthfeel just short of syrupy with low carbonation. A bit chewy. Suppose this is bottom fermented but I really wouldn’t guess it to be. Quite a lot of bitterness straight away. Earthy, maybe a little leathery with lots of dried dark fruits and their skins, berries, mild roasted coffee, dried banana, dark sugars, licorice. Enjoyable apart from the stubborn plastic cork.

Hazy ruby red to brownish color, frothy head 3 fingers and long and leaving lacing. Nice looks. Head covers aromas so wait a bit. Mild aroma has berries, cherry, raspberry, yeast, belgian esters, alcohol mildly. Nuanced and inviting aroma. Bit sweet and sour, ash, not much berries in flavor, more dried fruits, spices, even bit pepper in medium long finish. Medium body, bit fizzy feel with spicy bite. Lots of character and nuances to enjoy, recommended.

Hazy dark brown body, khaki head. Aroma has nuts, butter, dark fruits and bready malt and banana. Flavour is much banana, raisins and bread. Is this lager or not? Not if you ask me.

33cl bottle - Dark ruby-brown with a medium sized tan head that quickly recedes to a thin film. Fantastic aroma of malt, toffee, dark fruit, and a hint of spice. Full bodied without being sticky or cloying, very nice. Lovely, complex flavour - malt, caramel, brown sugar, dark dried fruit, toasted nuts - and a warm, lingering finish.

A nice and malty bockbeer with a nice and consistent body. The hint of caramel in this beer is great.
