COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2013 33cl bottle. Dark red with small tanned head. NOSE : Dried fruits and cherries. Caramel malts. Makes me think of a Coca-cola a bit. Strong toffee and chocolate tart. SIP : Decent carbonation with oily texture. The body is medium. Sweet and oily in mouth. It reveals more sweet but with a burned and fruity background. Ending is A bit acidic and bitter. Mud and roots like aftertaste. Sweet notes are full of toffee and burned caramel. It becomes more like milk chocolate after a while. Burned flavors reveals flavors comparable to a chocolate tart. Some vanilla there too. Acidity is comparable to the aftertaste of coffee and smoked plums. Bitterness on the other hand is just a hint like coffee but mostly covered by the taste of when I bite through a citrus seed. OVERALL : complex and tasty. Amazing beer. perfect winter beer.

From Bottle into a mug, Dark/haze color with not so much of a foam. HUGE aromas of caramel, alcohol and liqueur. Taste the same, with some dark fruits accompanying the caramel. A very pleasant beer.

Mi è garbata davvero questa bock teutonica, in versione orange. Bellissimo l’aspetto, anche al naso è molto invitante. In bocca equilibrata, pulita e gustosa.

Bottle: Poured a clear burgundy color ale with large off-white foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light residual sugar with some caramelized malt. Taste is a good mix between some caramelized malt with light toffee notes with some residual sugar. Boyd is about average but has a nice creamy texture with good carbonation. Easy drinking with nice level of complexity for style.

Bottle from a southern season. Pours dark ruby with an inch of khaki foam. There’s a bit ofmaltiness on the nose. Mouthfeel is dense with a hint of sweet molasses on the tongue. Finishes with some linger. That was different.

33 cl bottle. Pours a dark red-brown color. Firm off white, sticky head. Aroma’s of caramle malt, oats, a hint of acidity. Flavor is well balanced sweet and bitter (zoals het een goede bok betaamt). Medium body. Finishes malty sweet, roasted, slightly bitter. One of my favorite Dutch bocks at the moment.
