This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

Piwo butelkowe 750ml. Zapach rodzynek, lekko wyczuwalne nuty wiśniowe i karmelowe. Piana beżowa bardzo trwała, lacing w porządku. Kolor bardzo ciemna czerwień. W smaku karmel, śliwki z lekkim gorzkim posmakiem, w miarę picia aromat wiśni nabiera siły.

Dark brown/red colour. Soft carbonation. Medium body. Sweet aroma with notes of ripe dark fruit and some roastiness. A bit too sweet for me.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A very dark brown beer. I can see brown hues through the light just at the bottom and the top of the beer. Huge thin beige persistant foam. Beautiful. Aroma of caramel, spices, herbs, alcohol. Sweetness is first medium, then light and finally, medium. Bitterness is first light and medium in the end. Medium body. Sweet texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish with a warming note. Overall, I like this beer very much : beautiful and delicious !

Brown cloudy color with a huge persistent head. Sweet upfront. Brown sugar caramel malts, dark fruits. Strong on earthy yeasts reminding a brown bread. Nice light and dry bitter end Medium creamy body. Medium carbonation. A bitter-sweet beer I like it and really recommend it

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Malz, Karamell, rote Früchte. Geschmack süß röstmalzig, rote Früchte, leicht würzig.

750ml bottle (Cracked Kettle?) - BB2010, drunk 2014-02 (8:4:8:4+:15++=3.9++)
Pours with raisins and plums aplenty, nice. Sweet in the glass, more dark fruits, just one hint of tomato early on, but sweet toffee malts too. Has some Thomas Hardy elements too, nice. Reddy brown, tight tan head. Beautiful soft palate, smooth carbonation. Initially, just a tiny yeasty aspect, but a beautiful soft toffee malt, nice burnt corner gives it some dryness. Lovely earthy dry bitter hops. My god, this has aged beautifully. Even some mocha or coffee in the finish. Just a tiny whisker short of wow, perhaps if it wasn’t for the tomato hint, it would be 4.0.
330ml bottle (Drink Shop, Tallinn) - BB 2014-11, drunk 2014-02 (6:4:6+:4:13=3.3+)
How can I review this tasteless nonsense after that absolute delight of the 6-year sample. Pleasant malts, sweetish, nice roast. Palate thinnish (in comparison), crisp carbonation, but there is a nice sweet fullness to the body. Nice malty body, roast good, hops subtle, burntness. Not bad, but really does nothing but get better with age.

Tap. Deep reddish tones with a soapy off-white head. Rich aroma of prune, raisin, and licorice. Medium to fuller bodied, taste is similar to the aroma and the licorice lingers a bit. Solid.

Drinking blind both a La Trappe Bockbier of this season (33cl) and one of a year old (30cl). This seasons beer: Alcohol, caramel, malt and licorice in the aroma. A clear brown beer with a big brown head. Sweet and bitter are nicely balanced. Also in the taste caramel and licorice, but also coffee. Normal carbonation. ( 5 4 7 3 13) Beer of one year old: Alcohol, caramel, and cardboard in the aroma. A somewhat unclear red-brown beer with a medium brown head. Sweet and bitter are nicely balanced, but also a little sour. Higher carbonated. (6 4 8 4 15)

Excelente bock, forte e muito lúpulo! Vale a pena quando quer uma cerveja encorpada, cor escurecida e sabor forte e marcante.

Bottle 0,33L. Courtesy of Kita. Dark, ruby red-brown colour with creamy, light brown head. Intensive aroma of dark fruits, (cherry dominate), milk chocolate, molasses, light aroma of alcohol. Taste starts moderate bitter with chocolate and caramel note and finished heavy bitter with long lasting aftertaste. Full bodied beer with oily structure, really good one...
