This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

Very nice dark brown color with a little red shining through, but otherwise pretty average bock.

330 ml bottle.
Pours a mahogany colour with a thick, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits and malts. Flavour of quite strong, toasted, bready malts, caramel, dark fruits and some berries. Quite thick mouthfeel and a dry, fruity, slightly warming finish. Nice one.

Bottle. Pours a nice reddish brown/copper color with a frothy mocha colored head. Aroma is of dark fruits, caramel, toffee, brown sugar and some subtle hops and spice. The flavor is again very dark fruity, with a quite peppert spice, almost like in a trappist ale, along with flavors of caramel, toasted malt and nutty notes. The body is medium with a dry mouthfeel. Overall a pretty solid Dunkler Bock, which is wasn’t expecting.

Rosy brown hues underneath a thick mat of off-white head that clings to the glass. Caramel and christmas cake aromas, glace fruit, allspice aromas. Interesting flavour in that it has an almost sour note followed by bitterness and crystalled fruits. Not bad at all, gets a good pass mark but I was expecting a little better.

Colour could be a little bit darker, with more red shining through. Taste and smells very sweet, don’t really like that. Nice body to it though.

Pour is attractive; aroma of sweet bock; taste surprised me as lighter than expected with some subtle earthy undertones; decent bock

33 cl bottle. Dark brown with a large tan head that lasts very well. Somewhat medicinal aroma of licorice and prunes, some bready maltiness. Flavor is fruity and sweet, with notes of nuts, licorice, caramel, wood, some earthiness. Quick finish. Medium bodied.

11.2 oz bottle. Dark reddish brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, and roasted nuts. Roasted malt character, light sweetness, with a bit of an anise/licorice note.

11.2 oz bottle. It pours a reddish-brown with a huge, foamy off-white/tan head. The smell is super nutty with a bit of dough, spices, caramel, and raisins. The flavor has some roasted caramel with a nice bittersweet flavor, dark fruits, and roasted nuts. It is a decent bockbier, and certainly interesting considering the brewery and location.
