This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

0,7l Bottle: Deep red amber colour, with a nice creamy head. Aroma of flowers, jeast, citrus, lots of malts, smells lika a typical Belgium ale.Even it is coming from the Netherlands. Flavor is almost the same as the aroma +Vine, citrus, caramel, and a nice hopy/bitter finish. Medium body, and a medium finish. But is this a bock beer?

Aroma: apple peel, caramel malt, vanilla, chocolate, sourish yeast, molasses, some unusual hops, earthy, cellar.
Appearance: deep red brown, very beautiful. Clear. Yellowbeigetinted, fine foam that looks very appetizing.
Flavour: big maltiness, bitterness that lingers about, cacao, some malty sweetness, truly cocoa bitterness, some soapy hopbitterness.
Palate: however fizzy it’s got a fluffy, great body.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2007 Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Dark mahogany colour, creamy head. Aroma of burnt malt and plums, Very dry, medium bodied clean mouthfeel. Heavily carbonated, roasty and burnt, feels rather hard. Besides burnt malt there are notes of viola and licorice. Salty bitterish finish. Flavourful, but somewhat unrefined.

Bottle at Falling Rock. 2004 Vintage. Clouded brown. Nose is very malty and sweet with choco-notes and caramel. taste is also sweet with lots of chewy malts, caramel, and some cake-like flavors. Body is medium but it’s starting to lose it’s carbonation feel. Finishes with more chewy malts and caramel. Some hints of dark soda pop as well.
