This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

0.75 l bottle. Dark reddish brown color with huge creamy head. Malty, grainy and parfumy aroma. Fairly dry, malty and woody flavor with caramel, pepper, clove, strawberry, cork and perhaps tannins. Spicy and bitter finish. Pleasant, perhaps the best beer from La Trappe.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2010 At the 2007 Big Beer, Belgians, & Barleywines Festival in Vail. Pours dark brown with ruby undertones and a large off white head that leaves marvelous lacing. I really liked the toasted malt flavors that were in this beer. has a bit od caramel and anise flavors as well. UPDATE 7/2010: In the 330 mL bottle from Dirty John’s Grocery. Really nice aromas of chocolate and caramel at warming. Quite tasty.

After a 5 min. struggle with the cork (a 750 ml bottle) a beautyful ruby color appears in my glass, with a thick and slowly diminishing foam that slowly reveals an earthy hop and malt character with some yeastiness. Flavour further adds some notes of wood? The mothfeel is creamy. Nice bitter finish. Great beer.

My eyes were almost popping out of my head when I saw this one at a friends place, he just had returned from Holland. My fingers clinged to the neck of the bottle and I could not release the grip - so I simply HAD to take it home with me ;)) The color is mahogany and the head is huge and nice. Flavour, well I admit that La Trappe has a very, special place in my heart, I simply like their beers!! It’s full-bodied and balanced with notes of roasted malt, caramel, a bit of fruit and the sweetness is just right (not nearly as sweet as many bock-beers). The alcohol is present, but not enough to disturb the picture.
