Bottle. Pours with a finger of lightly off-white head on a rich coppery brown, murky hue. Raisins, toffee, and a hint of roasted malt and fruit in the aroma. Dark fruits in the flavor at first, toffee again and some reduced brown sugar, dryish malty finish. Medium to thinner body with snappy, bubbly carbonation. Warming, and tasty. Certainly a solid brew.

Bottle: Light brown foamy head that disappears slow. Dark amber brown to almost black beer color. Smell a mix of dark fruits, sugars, oatmeal, hints of toasted malts and iron. Taste is light sweet and bit bitter in the beginning and gets more bitter and also dry in the end. Taste dried dark fruits (prunes), malts, hops, grass, sugars, spices (pepper), toasty and caramel. Dry and bitter with low carbo.

Half, Keg, The Rake. Opaque black colour with excellent lacing, hoppy aroma, some marzeppan, licorish, sweet roasted malts, leather, rich and vibrant but very grainy and not as drinkable as I had hoped.

Bottle from Beer Planet, Brussels. Pours a rusty brown hazy body with a creamy off-white top. Aroma is grapes, yeast, dark malts and oats. Nice. Taste is a creamy blend of tarty sour flavors mixed with light oats and caramel hints. Some cherry and wooden notes as well. Nice, but not exactly groundbreaking. Still, a well-made bock bier from a Trappist brewery with an original touch has to be accredited.
