COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

Small bottle. Cloudy copper body, medium beige head. Aroma has sweet caramel with some spices and toffee. Taste has roasty malts with dried fruit and some yeast. Good mouthfeel. Finish is bitter but it’s kept in balance with the yeastiness and the dried fruit tastes. The first La Trappe out of the bunch that manages to exceed my expectations.

Pours a dark amber/brown color, topped with a nice beige colored head. Aroma is a bit roasty, some caramel, bread and yeast. Taste follows naturally - sweet start, some caramel and a bit roasty, typical yeasty feel and some bitterness. Decent one.

750-ml bottle from rare beer club. from the hang tag: "La Trappe Bockbier is a bit drier, darker, more bitter and roasted than traditional German Bock. Like many Dutch Bocks, it is a bottle-conditioned ale, not lager." 36 ibu. weird for it not to be a lager. tons of head, malty, caramel, an earthy (bitter?) aspect i didn’t care for. but great with a splash of syrah!
