Mistig, kastanjebruin bier. Snel verdwijnende schuimkraag. Aroma: chocolade, stroop. Niet te zoet voor een bokbier. Goed gebalanceerd.

330 ml bottle. K14J11. BB 10/2014. From bierzwerg.de.
Dark reddish brown colour with an average sized tan head. Dark fruits, mild chocolate, yeast, malt and sugary sweetness in the aroma. The flavour is brown sugar, syrup, chocolate, dark fruits, malt and mild hops. Quite tasty. Rather nice.

750ml bottle picked up at the monastery. Pours a lightly hazed, deep red-brown colored body with an inch thick, dense, creamy and foamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is deep caramel with a nice brown sugar and fruit cake sweetness as well as a light roast note, cocoa, licorice spice, and some yeast. Flavor is similar with maybe a bit more of a roast note throughout. Still plenty of deep caramels, raisin bread and fruit cake, a nice cocoa element, some brown sugar, and a bit of a yeasty note. Licorice spice and a light warmth comes through towards the end before this finishes dry and clean with a light roasty bitterness and a smooth cocoa and caramel note. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full body and a lively carbonation. Overall, a damn good dunkler bock. Very smooth caramels and cocoas with a nice roast, dark fruit, and yeast note. A bit warming, yet easy drinking and highly enjoyable. Great beer.

From bottle. Poured dark ruby red with a tan head. Dark fruit aromas with caramel flavors blended in. Slightly sweet on the finish.

Best Bockbier ever. It seems that these very pious guys have managed to make a Bockbier with the character and complexity of a Belgian ale. Perfect appearance, so creamy that one would hardly believe it’s out of a bottle. All the basement fruits, the yeasty barn, late autumn scents and flavours. Everything so subtle and smooth that you’d hardly think it’s a rather high alcohol content. Perfection.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy darkish amber with abundant and stable light tan head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel with a touch of raisins. Sweetish, malty aroma with hints of caramel and roast. Subtle hoppy notes. Dry, lingering aftertaste. Very decent.

Pours clear dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, toffee and floral. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Medium to dark brown that is hard to see through with a thick, lasting, lacy, frothy, tan head. Smells of dark fruit (prunes and apricot) fills the glass with toasted, caramel and roasted malt and a hazelnut element with a bit of alcohol in the background but not that noticeable. Medium frothy oily body with faint carbonation. Nice sweet toasted malt taste and some light spice with a soft bitterness of a roast in the middle and finishes with a balance of sweet fruit and dark chocolate. Dry and spiced finish. Very easy to drink and the alcohol is only slightly noticeable. A nice bock.
